You guys I'm freaking out here! I lent out my ivory patent leather carry all and it came back with horrible black marks on the bottom and pink stains on the side! I am about to cry here and I have tried everything. Acetone, vinegar,baking soda, cpr, amo-something, and nothing is taking it out! Do I need to re-dye it? I love the ivory color and would hate to change the color of it. Any ideas?

That really sucks. Do you know what caused the stains? Is the pink dye transfer. Some have had success with Leather Master Dye Transfer Remover. It's expensive though. Perhaps your friend (ex-friend?) could buy some for you. Better still buy you a new bag.

Finally finished a few. Here's a collection of navy blue bags. Compact Brief #9425 with glued-in serial no, NYC Basic Bag #9455 and Camera Bag #4012.

Also a couple of Sheridans. Green Charleston #4217 and a black Lauren #4234.

Finally finished a few. Here's a collection of navy blue bags. Compact Brief #9425 with glued-in serial no, NYC Basic Bag #9455 and Camera Bag #4012.

They look so pretty! I have a question about the camera bag, do you have trouble closing the zipper all the way? Mine has trouble that last inch or so. I may need to try and reshape it a little bit. I think I can stuff it as I'm still conditioning it.

I think it is a dye transfer and the black stains I have no idea what thy could be. It looks like she sat the purse on black tar or something. Getting her to pay or do anything for you is like getting water from a stone. I tried to post the pics but they didn't show up. Weird.

Gorgeous! I just love how Tabac retains patina. They are all beautiful.

Did you try a Mr Clean eraser? The bag sounds like it's ruined so it probably wouldn't hurt.

+1 I was going to suggest magic eraser too. I've gotten small marks off of a liquid gloss satchel in the past without removing too much of the finish.

I third the Magic Eraser. I've torn off tiny pieces and wrapped them around a chop stick or something pointy to make it easier to scrub just the mark.

I got my bag. It's not as bad as I thought. The ink mark is...ouch though. I think I might try to match it as much as I can with paint.

Anyway I don't have my conditioner yet. Can I go ahead and clean it tonight? I should have the conditioner tomorrow.

Thanks bigal. No problems with the zipper on this one. You could try rubbing it with wax or a graphite pencil.

Thanks Katherine. The compact brief was listed as black. It looked really faded so I thought it was grey but it ended up navy.

You should be able to cover the pen mark with paint. Go ahead and clean it. The leather needs to be damp not wet when you condition it. Good luck. Don't forget to post the after pics.

It sounds really bad. You must be so upset.

Your pics were probably too large to post. You have to resize them.
