I don't mind mixing paint and conditioner etc. it doesn't need to be perfect either.
I found a product awhile ago that is guaranteed to remove ink from leather but I can't think of the name.
I have never dunked a leather bag before but that's what I planned to do with this one.
I bought a bottle of leather CPR. I forgot about that stuff.
Very interested in that product that claims it guarantees to remove ink from leather. Ink and pen marks are the bane of rehabbers. We've all tried everything.

Sorry guys, I can't remember the name but I know they sell it at the grocery store here. I know there are YouTube videos on it as well. It's suppose to even work on patent.

This dooney looks to be fairly sturdy leather but it's not in my hands yet so I don't know. I don't want it to be perfect and I don't mind if it's distressed and I can even get past the ink mark. I just want it to be clean looking. I'm hoping I can get the "blackness" out of the corners.

I would wait until you get your hands on it. I found a Dooney all weather leather bag myself today that looked like it had paint on it, but whatever it was came off with just a swipe of Leather CPR. Easiest. Rehab. EVER!!! It's now de-stinkifying in a rubbermaid with a little container of baking soda.

Found it! It's called Amodex. I came across it while reading comments in a blog. It got good reviews on leather but unfortunately they don't have any demonstrations on leather on their YouTube page.
It doesn't work on leather, at least it hasn't for me. I'm on my second or third bottle. It works great on lining, but it hasn't budged ink on leather, not even a tiny bit.

Actually it might clean up well. I'd remove the handles and spray the fabric with stain remover and then wash it. You might even consider chucking it in the washing machine, otherwise just in the sink. Condition the leather trim and handles when nearly dry.

Aaaagh! Lost out by $.25 while I was literally out to lunch. Guess I should have bid higher than $3.00! :pout:

You guys I'm freaking out here! I lent out my ivory patent leather carry all and it came back with horrible black marks on the bottom and pink stains on the side! I am about to cry here and I have tried everything. Acetone, vinegar, baking soda, cpr, amo-something, and nothing is taking it out! Do I need to re-dye it? I love the ivory color and would hate to change the color of it. Any ideas?

So sorry! I hope your friend is going to make it up to you. Acetone will probably remove the shine from patent. I don't even know if you can redye patent leather. If the stains aren't big, maybe you can use acrylic paint over them along with a gloss varnish. I think it would work on crinkle patent; not so sure about smooth patent. Don't use nail polish.
