I've been eyeing that style for a while.. Love that color! I've had success with the lighter colors using this stuff to clean - it's PH balanced for leather and removes embedded grime. I used this on a glacier colored Maggie (very gently!) and it really helped!

Ooo thanks for this. Think I've seen something similar in my bosses cupboard. I'll try it lol. It's a gorgeous colour! It's also incredibly lightweight. Out of curiosity, if you're in the US and you buy an item from the UK do you get charged any additional tax?

I agree that you did a great job and that dark colors are much more forgiving and easier to rehab. The leather of this bag is also soft and it wrinkles easily - but it is a gorgeous bag!

To decide if a rehab was successful I generally ask myself this question "Do you feel comfortable carrying this bag in public?" and if the answer is "No" then I usually decide to attempt more drastic measures - although I know that they may not work.

If this was my bag, I might try washing it again and more vigorously because it may need more than a dunk. Let it soak in Dawn suds and try spot-scrubbing the more soiled areas with soap and a soft brush. You could also tie it up in a pillow case or laundry bag and cycle it through the washer on gentle cycle and then stuff it to dry.

After washing, if I were still not satisfied, I might try using a matching color acrylic hobby paint mixed with Leather CPR to refresh the color, but that's a hard color to match and it would be a last resort for me, but there are others here that are more expert with dying and color refreshing then me.

Below are before and after pics of a similar lime green buckle bag that I rehabbed. It wasn't totally successful but I think that the bag was improved and it passed my test because I felt comfortable carrying it. Good luck!

You are a Coach magician! Wow!

I'm sorry I can't answer that question about tax.. I haven't bought anything from the UK. Perhaps @americandreaming would be able to answer. ??

Hi ladies, how are you doing?
I have a lime green Waverley Bag. I bought it in pretty bad shape. I've dunked, conditioned and buffed and she looks as though she still needs some work but I'm not experienced enough to know what to do. I took photos today with the plan in mind of selling low on eBay. I'll attach photos.
Would love your thoughts

Just a correction - this isn't a Waverly. That is style #4133 and has shorter handles. This one was called buckle bag.

In the US you can buy something from another country and as long as the total is under $800, you aren't charged duty on it. The shipper is supposed to put the value on the label.

Ladies I have a question about metallic leathers. I tried doing a search but I didn’t see anything about reviving with the exception of re-dying. Friend has a Parker Hippie in a champagne metallic color. This bag was during the time when the metallics were not as durable and I’m afraid she may be SOL. Is there a trick to reviving without dying metallics? I’ll add photos in a moment, thank you!

Is it just dirty, dull, and wrinkled or are there areas where the metallic finish have rubbed off? If it is mostly dirt, dull, and wrinkles then I would first try washing and stuffing it and conditioning it to see how it looks. But if there is actual rubbing damage to the metallic leather then more drastic steps may be needed after washing, shaping, and conditioning.

I am not much of an expert with using paints or dyes but when that's the best option I try to do my best. The link below shows before and after pics of a copper metallic Zoe bag that I once rehabbed. I bought the bag new and I loved it and used it a lot, especially when walking back and forth to the train station during my daily work commute - but to my horror the metallic copper finish rubbed off in areas on the back of the bag and it looked terrible.

I took the hangtag to a hobby store and bought a small bottle of metallic acrylic paint that was a very close color match. Next I mixed the paint with conditioner and painted it on the back of the bag. I had to paint the entire back side of the bag to keep it from looking spotty. It came out well, not perfect but much improved, and I was able to continue carrying the bag.

Good luck, my first Coach bag was a Parker Hippie and I still love it!

Thanks, katev! I believe it might just be badly wrinkled with minimal color loss, but it’s hard to tell. She’s in VA, I’m way over in AZ, so I haven’t seen it in person. The lining is a dark burgundy. I would assume she should pull it away from the bag as much as possible if dunking to prevent bleeding of the dye onto the leather, correct?

I don't think that I've ever dunked a Parker bag - although there is one sitting in my rehab pile - so I can't answer that question except to say (if my memory serves me correctly) that the lining should pull out most of the way. But I wouldn't worry about color bleeding from the lining during dunking, I think that it is probably colorfast, but I don't know for sure.

wondering if anyone knows what’s going on with this 1997 saddle bag…The back looked beautiful when I got it, but the front flap was dull and dark. I washed it and no real change. CPR didn’t help. The texture on the front flap feels off too, although it is soft. Any ideas?

I agree with @katev, I think the lining is colorfast. I think it is a polyester blend. She could test it by putting some of the lining in warm water.
