Hi rehabbers!

Had a question for everyone. I've been interested in a bag like the Ali legacy flap for a while in the pink color, something like this:

https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m33375500441/?ref=search_results

Could you tell me anything about this leather? I've seen a lot of the ergo tote rehabs which I think is from this same line?

Is this style bag one could dunk/rehab?

Thanks!
I dunked a whiskey Ali Flap. It bleed like crazy even with very short time submerged in water. The lining was stained. After cleaning the bag and let it upsidedown to drain the water for half hour. I carefully washed the lining with soap and water, the dye stain came out easily. Patting the lining dry with towel then use cloth pin hang the bag by the lining to air dry. (Good thing the lining can be pulled out completely). When the bag is 80 percent dry, the dye color no longer transfer easily, I put the lining back inside and stuffed the bag with towels to shape it. Over all I would say a little more work but doable. The finished bag photos attached.
ETA: the leather is thin Vachetta leather with cardboard like backing, so I wouldn't dunk it for long, also use cool to room temperature water, hot water will melt the edgepaint.

I would buy this for $10 at a flea market simply for science! And post here for my fellow researchers.
There's distressed to perfection, and there's distressed . . . .
ETA, okay lol, I need to walk away from this post. But after looking at the pics once more, with the zoom box feature, aside from the split leather on the one corner and ratty strap, it doesn't look much worse that my distressed BT City when I bought it. And I paid $28 shipped for that and do like it conditioned. Don't get me wrong, I am not encouraging anyone to buy it because it does have the split and the ratty strap. I will go on record (as if anyone cares) if it did not have the split piping, the ratty strap and was BT, I'd be in dialogue with the seller trying to get it for $28!!
I counter offered $18 for the distressed Plaza! I'm sure they won't accept it. I was looking through some of my before/after photos on my phone, and my BT Pocket Purse looked a lot like this Plaza before I rehabbed her! I really do like distressed BT, but not at $36.

Very nice looking bag!

The seller originally refuted my complaint saying I should have zoomed in on one of the photos so I filed a return request thru eBay and now she has offered a partial refund so I'm debating whether to try to work with it or push for a full refund and return.
I would return it. These bags are not terribly rare and you could end up finding another one in better condition. Plus crappy sellers don't deserve our business. Just my opinion though.

This is a MFF version of legacy. I don't think it is the same leather as the regular Legacy line. Other than that, I have no idea how it would rehab.

I got my late 80s Station bag today and did a super quick dunk because covid and also because she is old and grungy. The water turned super yellow. And I was surprised to find not one but two hang tags attached though they're not halves of a whole because they're not the same and I think the one that says leatherware is the correct one. Should this bag have a leatherware tag? Made in United States late 80s. My black one of the same age has the squared one-sided leatherware tag.
Also, the strap might be a lost cause. Feels almost like suede right in the middle where it would sit on a shoulder. I quickly washed it and put on some CPR.

I've just finished 2 rehabs and this first one is my favorite because I really love the shape of the bag. I had never seen this style before but @whateve expertly identified it as a Terrace Bag 4117 in Cocoa from the West End Lightweights collection, made in 1997.

The auction pictures were terrible and it was clear that the hangtag was a replacement (but not a very good choice IMO) but it came with the dustbag so that was nice.

When I received the bag I was disheartened to see that it had been flattened and shoved into a flat envelope, but the situation improved when I realized that the bag was in much better shape than I had expected from the auction photos.

It was an easy rehab, I gave it a bath and stuffed it, treated it with Leather CPR and Renapur, replaced the hangtag with a more suitable choice, and polished up the few pieces of hardware.

Here are the before and after pictures. Also below is a catalog page for the bag. It has a double-flap snap closure and 2 floating inside pockets, both a zipper pocket and a slip pocket. It's really a cutie!

Here's my second rehab and it is yet another reminder that I shouldn't rehab light-colored bags unless they are already in very good condition! But I thought that it was cute for summer and I don't have any bags in this color so I crumbled (again!) It was graciously authenticated by @BeenBurned and @whateve as a Buckle Bag 4157 in Lime, made in 1996.

The bag has wrinkles and stains so I gave it a bath and stuffed it and then gave it a couple of coats of leather therapy to try and smooth out the wrinkles. Next an application of Leather CPR and Black Rocks to finish and I gently polished the brass hardware.

The wrinkles and stains are improved but not gone. In the past I might have tried to mask the flaws if I had any Lime paint, but this would be a difficult color to match so I decided to leave it alone for now. See below for the Before and After pictures and a Catalog page.
