I just got this bag. Here's a question. Someone here was discussing the same stitched strap. They put it on a different vintage bag. and the results were stunning! Does anyone remember that post (searched and can't find). I think I might copycat. Question number two: best method of cleaning suede?

That's me! :biggrin::biggrin:

I love that strap! Please know that it is a bit delicate. Do not put it in hot water! The stitching is very thin leather so be cognizant to not pull whilst applying conditioner like I did which stretched it a bit.

I hope you like it!

EDIT! You can dunk suede but it will fade!

I've heard that about suede bags also - that they will fade if you give them a bath. I haven't washed many suede bags but so far I've been lucky, so I think that it must be specific colors that are more likely to fade after dunking.

My Oat Fringe Dinky didn't fade (even though I cycled it through the washing machine!) and here is a picture of a Brown Suede Beaded Signature Tote 10442 with matching wristlet 8F36 that I once rehabbed. I dunked them both and they didn't fade.

A red Nubuc bag that I once dunked did fade, so maybe that's the difference - the color or the material - or both!

Thanks for the tips! I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do with it, but I love that strap, too.

FYI, Raylyn makes a lot of suede care products. When I bought my Coach Wave Dreamer at the outlet the Sales Rep gave me this Raylyn Suede Care Kit for the suede inserts on the Dreamer, and I found it helpful while rehabbing the Oat Fringe Dinky.

That's interesting! At one time, Coach had their own suede kits.

Hi to all from GA. I need some advice. Here where I live we have a community dump. Where everyone takes their trash. When I went to throw my trash in one of the bins what did I see? Not one but two Coach bags. I know next to nothing about these bags. 20220328_031050.jpg20220328_031038.jpg20220328_031020.jpg20220328_031000.jpgy. As you can see in the pictures they are in sad shape. I love these two bags already. I've never done any rehab on any bags. I'm so uninformed. Can anyone tell me about these diamonds in the rough and what I can do to help restore their former glory? I've emailed the Coach outlet near to me to see if maybe they could clean them. But reading a lot of your discussions made me want to do it myself. I have heard Coach uses only the best material and they can be damaged easily cleaning them. Any information will help.

I think some people have gotten some success with bags like these by washing them, some have done so in the washing machine. They are mostly fabric. I don't know if those stains will come off. You can use pre-treatments on the fabric. Don't put them in the dryer. The leather parts should be dried as quickly as possible as they will soak up water. I wouldn't worry much about the patent leather, but the creeds can be dried with a hair dryer, after you've rolled the bag in a towel to absorb some of the moisture. The fabric may end up wrinkled. You can iron it, avoiding ironing the leather parts. You can avoid some of the wrinkling by stuffing the bags with towels while they dry.

This teal suede Haversack went through an old school top loader twice! No fading at all. People here said they had run suede bags through the washer successfully so I thought why not. The first time I hyperventilated through the first ten minutes. The second time, I was like, oh, I think I can do better. And chucked it in. It was the from the Bleeker Archive group with anniversary stripe lining.
I had seen this Haversack in fuscia posted somewhere here on the Coach forum and I thought, WOW. Then last year I saw this bag in a thrift shop for $20, really dirty. Complete impulse buy at the end of a tedious work day and week. After some help on R/R, she's up for St. Patty's Day! Still pondering what kind of fob/hangtag/do-dad to get. View attachment 4005893
