Hey my rehabbing friends...has anyone dunked one of these?
It's in pretty good shape really but has a mark that one come off with CPR.
But am concerned about losing colour re the white.
Any opinions please would be appreciated. View attachment 5179113
I dunked a Pleated Ergo with a Tattersall lining in chalk that did fine. I would have concerns about that trim.

I worked on my Bella Court over the weekend! This one required a bit of elbow grease as it was shoe polished (fully disclosed). It took me 2.5 hours to scrub the polish off with 99% alcohol. It stripped a lot of the dye from the bag as well (as you can see on the piping in the before pics). Then I dunked it in super hot water & let it soak for over an hour before scrubbing with a toothbrush. I did 5 coats of CPR & applied heated Renapur followed by buffing for an hour with a horse hair brush. Im SO happy with how it turned out! The leather is a little uneven in some places but now it can absorb conditioner & doesn’t look like plastic so Im fine with that

Special thank you to @Busykitty who gave me this bag as a fun project, it will remain with me permanently & I can’t wait to carry it! :hugs:

What do you use on the hardware? It looks so shiny and bright.

I got my Slim Satchel today. It is WAY dirtier than I thought. It looks like it was kept in a barn or shed. The good news is that I can't see any damage. The piping on the corners is Rubbed but still in good shape. It also smells horribly of perfume. Yuck!!!
Do you have any suggestions on dislodging the grime (other than standard bath)? I will also add vinegar in the hopes the smell goes away. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.

I think giving it a bath in Dawn dish soap and scrubbing it with a soft brush and then conditioning it are probably your best options. At least I would start with that and see how the bag responds. See below for before and after pics of the brown Slim Satchel 9425 that I rehabbed. It responded well to a simple bath and conditioning.

Also below are pics of a green Pocket Purse 9755 that I once rehabbed. The bag was in pretty good condition but it had a strong smell like perfume or incense. Again I just gave it a bath and conditioner and the smell disappeared and the bag came out well.

Good luck!

Gorgeous, amazing job! I'm floored it only took you a few hours to get the polish off! Enjoy her!!! Looking forward to the botd pix x

And yes please to the comp - was going to ask you as soon as it arrived and you said it looked like one:lol::nuts:

What do you use on the hardware? It looks so shiny and bright.

I fill a small bowl with one part vinegar & one part water, throw the hardware in & after a few minutes I polish it with #0000 fine steel wool. I keep the hardware wet with the vinegar/water while Im polishing it. Then I rinse with hand soap & warm water. I used to use brasso but it’s awful in my opinion. It turns everything into a weird pale gold colour.

To maintain the shine, just quickly buff with a silver jewelry cloth before carrying the bag :)

That's a great method, I remember when you were like me and didn't bother polishing:lol::cool::nuts:

OMG how hilarious! It’s currently 5:40 in the morning where I live! I have an appointment to go to so I had to wake up super early, nice to see someone else is awake & on the threads too haha!

Thanks! I kept thinking about your Casino & how the polish just wouldn’t budge. The Bella’s polish just slid off but it was time consuming because I had to make sure to get into every crevice!

I still don’t! I only polish when the hardware is extremely tarnished, DW Im still lazy! LOL
