 Hey, hang! Some really great rehabs have happened since I have checked in here! Haven't been very active lately(easier to keep the wishlist down when not looking at bags all day lol,) but wanted to show you all something I've been working on.

I have been looking at the NASA collection since I got back into coach, and I was really sad I missed out on it. I don't often consider buying non-vintage bags, but I really LOVE that collection. I just can't bring myself to spend the $$$ on one bag when I know I could probably buy 10+ vintage for the cost. So with a bit of inspiration from @Punkkitten and a few others, I decided to create my own cheaper version of a NASA bag! It was hard to decide which bag to use considering it would have to be punctured, but after much browsing and consideration of which bag to possibly ruin...I ended up going with a $20 black Patti since there are hundreds, if not thousands, of them for sale.

I am glad I went for it, because I love it! I even made my own fob! I need to buy some actual chain for the fob as I just used what I had handy, but I am really happy with it overall. I think I am going to add a couple more things to the flap, but not until I am completely sure where. So here is my OOAK Nasa vintage Patti! The NASA and star are Coach pins, the ISS is an actual NASA pin, and the charms on the fob were things I found at Hobby Lobby. I might possibly add a 3d moon later, but I actually kinda like the flat one since it isn't bulky or heavy. Not sure yet.

That is stunning and it will be more durable than the NASA collection!

Some firsts coming through. Bought a Willis which I said I never would. Price was decent for its condition. Unfortunately when I dunked it just spread the stains more. Tried again no luck. So I decided to dye it.

First dye job. From British tan to mahogany. I am quite impressed. This is medium brown from fiebings. It’s not as dark as Coach’s shade and has more red richness. Like a nice glass of wine. Left it BT in the bag inner pocket due to access. I think it looks fine. Unfortunately the spots are still there but less visible.

What was the dye process like? Did you deglaze or seal the bag? I need to refresh a black bag so I’d love to know! You did a great job. :amuse:

You did a fantastic job! I havenn't had the courage to try dyeing yet!

If your bag is currently black and you just want to deepen the colour, you might be able to get away with simply colour refreshing it. There are lots of tutorials in this thread.

Thank you! I actually did what you aren’t supposed to and conditioned it first. I did try to de glaze the bottom but I had nothing except some alcohol. The rest of the bag I dyed without deglazing. I wish I had just because there was some dye excess to wipe off and maybe it wasn’t able to penetrate as well as it could have. But I like it being more subtle.

I have read people deglaze and then some dilute the dye a bit so it’s not as intense going on. I just went straight in. Took me a good 2-3 coats. I would wipe off each time and then go again. I used a wool dauber for application and cotton swabs for smaller areas.

After that I went over with tan cote. It was quite sticky and needed to dry a while - about 24 hours. Then did a final wipe with CPR which helped get remaining excess.

All together it wasn’t too bad. I’m actually considering doing my Pattys Legacy now I still have some dye left. Will deglaze if I do.

I am so annoyed! I've been waiting all day for a bag being shipped by Fedex. According to the tracking it was only about 25 miles away from me yesterday and it was listed as "out for delivery" all day today, but now the status says "POTENTIALLY DELAYED!" so where the heck is it now?! How could it get lost when it was so near to my house?!

Usually if the Fedex delivery person has too many packages, he/she will scan them as “delayed” & deliver the next day. I’ve had this happen before, it’s extremely frustrating. I hope you get your package tomorrow

eta: I’ve also experienced it with UPS. I believe it’s because they can only deliver up to a certain time & if there’s still packages on the truck by the end of the day, they have to return with them which sucks!

Just about finished my Beekman! It was so sad before and desperately needed to be reshaped. The seller I purchased it from just slathered the bag in mink oil and it was coming off in clumps during the dunk. Gross.

Keeping it stuffed while not in use will be a priority to maintain shape, but I’m not too worried about keeping it perfect since I’ll be using this bag for class.

Hi Everyone,

I am fairly new to tPF. I am not sure what is more addictive, the bags or the leather products (of course it's the bags ). I had purchased a number of products just from the supermarket and a product named Saphir. I have just ordered some CPR based on the positivity on this forum. Unfortunately, delivery is still three weeks away.

One of the bags is a Patricia (authenticated, thanks @BeenBurned), I have washed and soaked. The bag had been misshapen and I had used some towels to reshape while wet. However, the back of the bag is still a bit saggy due to the interior back pocket, but doesn't look too bad. There are also a couple of white scuff looking marks that I was unable to remove.

Will the CPR remove these if applied to wet leather? Do you recommend something else?

Also, could you please give me some advice to remove what looks to be dried chewing gum from the smooth surface side of a bag?

Thanks in advance.

View attachment 4503672 View attachment 4503673 View attachment 4503674 Here is my latest bag! Legacy Leather Shoulder Flap Bag #11134 from 2007. The seller disclosed water stains on the flap that could really not been seen from her photos, but you can see here. I was lucky enough to find this style on the Wayback machine. The color is Citron and she is a real chameleon, depending on the light. The detail for all the colors offered only says vintage leather. The Creed says “finest materials”. Surprisingly light. 13 inches across! Stains and all, I’m in love
I spent hours the past few nights pouring over old posts, relating to Legacy Stripe Bags, vachetta and burnished leather. (Thanks to all who post) This bag is giving me a vibe of slightly pebbled leather. Yet the bag in this style in Clay is noted generally as vachetta. Any thoughts as to this leather?
It had not been used, as the paper covering for one piece of side hardware was still attached.
So, do I give it a wipe down with Lexol and then a light app of Cadillac Supreme?? I just had to use her today. I can live with the stains, as they blend in and out with the light on the creases. And they represent a significant discount :P

@Lake Effect I've received my 65th Anniversary Legacy Flap Bag 11134 (see link below) and it's very dirty but the the citron color is better than I hoped because it looks very faded in the photos. I hope that it will clean up well, but it definitely needs a bath.

The bag is missing the hangtag, of course! Could you please show me the correct hangtag(s) for this bag? I probably won't be able to match the original but I'd like to be as consistent as possible.

And I'd appreciate your advice about the rehab, thanks in advance!

Bag #5 - Black Ergo Pocket Flap 9033 which I gave to my Sister-In-Law. The bag was made in Turkey in 1998 and I got it at the Goodwill for $18. This is also a new rehab. She was thrilled and said that this was her first genuine Coach bag! and she couldnt believe that it had been refurbished!

The link below shows before and after pics of a Black Pocket Ergo 9033 that I rehabbed years ago. It was a straight-forward rehab. I gave it a bath, stuffed it with towels, and carefully shaped the handle so that it would dry with the right shape.

If you are having trouble stuffing it then try using smaller towels like hand towels or dish towels. I usually use wash cloths or paper towels to stuff the pockets because I don't want them to get stretched out.

When it is getting dry, remove the towels but maintain the shape and start applying Leather CPR and Black Rocks and then buff to get a shine.

Finally, just polish the small amount of hardware and try to replace the hangtag if necessary. Pretty easy, good luck!

@katev & @Narnanz how does the bottom of your 9033 look? I've straightened the sides of mine after the dunk but it makes the bottom fold in weirdly because of the pocket side. 46ED733C-8C42-4C6D-99BD-F74A75015293.jpeg
