I LOVE the step by step! It feels so rewarding to watch this beauty getting the first aid and care it deserves!

I did a similar bag in black for a girlfriend and it turned out gorgeously!!! Mind you, it looked very good to begin with. I love this style, but it is heavy with the 2 interior hanging pockets.

Thank you for sharing your restoration experience, Lake! :flowers:
Oh trust me, I thought about your lovely bag whenever I saw mine peeking out of the bottom of the pile! She was lovely.
You are too kind, restoration experience. It's more like, okay, I bought it and since I can get CPR cheap, what am I waiting for

It is a tough design with the pockets. Maybe that's why it had such a short production run. It is similar with the Legacy Shopper Larger that I have. But I have to say, I have been using my Shopper since the beginning of summer when I go to the office once a week and it is a complete Rock Star
It looks so good wet.
ikr. I am fantasizing after lots of CPR and Renapur it will be mahogany! In fact, I want to go look at what colors it was offered in. It wasn't many. In the sink, the dunk water had a mahog-undy tone to it!! But I put some in a glass against my white counter and I got more of a BT vibe.
All good. Taking one for the team haha. But it is fun. What color will it be? How will all that mottling look? Stay tuned.

I actually saw this style early in my vintage journey twice in green. It was quite faded and distressed and for what they were asking, I wasn't will to bite the bullet. And then this beater BT comes along, and well, the rest is history!

It’s been ages since I dunked a big bag like this. It is such a heavy beast when it is wet! I’ll probably apply CPR in a bit. Will see about posting another pic tomorrow.
Eta, and will probably turn every few hours and change towels.
Update: So Buckle Bag is beginning to dry. Bits of BT are peaking through. The hang tag looks great
It looks like part of the wear is actually that the very top surface layer has worn through in parts. I wished I had Leather Therapy RC to start this. i keep forgetting thirsty bags can really use that. I have given it 4 apps of CPR. I am away till Sunday. Will let you know how it looks then.

I am restoring a black Stewardess for a friend and was wondering how to deal with 8 tiny nicks in the leather on the front flap.

IMG_9447.jpg

Being a bit OCD, each time I looked at the bag they became more apparent. My first thought was to place a tea rose there, so I reached out to Luna...

IMG_9449.jpg

Of course, @LunaSilver had a much better idea!!! She instructed me to put some Leather CPR on one nick at a time, heat the rounded back of a teaspoon (I used a hot hairdryer as I knew it was sufficiently hot, but didn't think it would damage the leather), then press the hot rounded portion of the spoon on the damaged area and press down using a circular motion.

I did this 8 times and couldn't believe my eyes!!!

I had never heard of the remedy @LunaSilver suggested and told her I would share it with you all!!!! The results were miraculous!!! :yahoo:

Wow! That is really wonderful to know! I can't believe these excellent results! I am so glad LunaSilver is with us!

I believe you may have to send the bag into Coach. I would go in and talk to your store and ask them, perhaps you will just have to pay the $20 to have the bag shipped back to JAX.
In the last 5 years Coach has changed it's repair offerings and prices ... It is no longer just the shipping fee of $20 with the repair free ... Now the shipping is free but the repairs, based on what is being repaired and how labor intensive they are, have a fee ... But yes, contact your local Coach retail store for more information and pricing

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share some advice on a couple of rehabs I need to start?

My first question is on vintage Swingers ... Did you recommend dunking them? And is Leather CPR and Blackrocks as magical on them as it is on the Glovetanned leather?

My second question is concerning bright or light vintage leathers ... Will Blackrocks darken the color too much? Is there a better deeper moisturizer to use with Leather CPR on these colors?

Thank you in advance for your help ... All of you work MAGIC and I appreciate your knowledge!

Yes, you can dunk vintage swingers, or any of the Lightweights. CPR and Blackrocks are fine but because of the thinner leather, rehabs aren't quite as magical.

I don't think Blackrocks darkens that much on bright colors. If it does, it is temporary as it will eventually wear off. You could use Renapur instead.

Thanks for sharing it here. You did a great job, I can’t take all the credit for that. Especially I suggested to heat the spoon with lighter (which is risky of over heating & causing damage). You changed it to using hair dryer, which is brilliant idea.

Update  very interesting as it is drying to see the stains that did lift, that didn’t lift, scratches, wear etc! 5 apps of CPR so far. This bag was well used! I ordered Leather Therapy RC last week and it is here! I will take photos after I am done work, before I apply LT.
I am really interested to see how the patina develops. I feel like I am giving this bag back its dignity. And we still have Renapur to apply too.

Amazing! You know I will be applying Renapur with a hairdryer to my Buckle Bag!

So what do you think so far? Now I did take my current pics in less light (later in day) but the the color is accurate. The first and third are the front, the second and fourth are the back. This is with 5 apps of CPR. I will apply Leather Therapy RC shortly.

Wow! That is awesome. I have a red saddlery with that exact same problem. The bag is gorgeous otherwise, but the little imperfections are all that I can see. I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow! Thanks for sharing!
