I have had mould start growing when I was ill and accidently left wet straps covered by books for a few days. I wiped them down with straight vinegar and that was the end of it, thank goodness! I think it might depend how long the mould has been active.

I knew my $12 mold spray was a good investment haha. Ill post the results to the thread after I get it. I plan to take it straight to the laundry room from the mailbox!

Could I get some opinions on if these tiny white spots look like mold?:

I don’t have the bag in my possession yet so I can’t say much else. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. It doesn’t look too bad. I think a wipe down with my mold spray & a vinegar bath will get rid of it. I just hope it doesn’t leave stains

The mould on my taupe Casino and my burgundy key case looked just like this. I just rubbed vinegar all over the dry bag and left it for an hour and then scrubbed the mouldy spots really hard w/ fairy when dunking. All gone! Zero stains:smile:.

eta i had the key case first and I used a scourer to scrub it out as I was scared. I can't remember but I might have done the same with the Casino.

I have no experience with mold, but I got this bag out of the goodwill bins. When I got it it looked like it was dirty/dusty (the stuff looked white) so I wiped it off and didn’t think anything of it. It’s a large bag, so I wasn’t planning on rehabbing it yet but after scrolling here this morning I checked my bags and noticed black spots on the bottom and sides. I just wiped it down with a rag soaked in vinegar.

Should I dunk it now with vinegar or has all the damage that can be done already been done? Are there any products that will help prevent this from happening to my other bags? Someone referenced a mold spray up above. What would you do in my situation? Thanks!

That’s great to hear, Im hopeful about removing it with no staining :). It’s a Maggie 9019 duffle & Im really excited to try the style. Im like Goldilocks & the 3 bears: Duffle sac was too big, Helen was too wide at the base for my liking but Im hoping the Maggie will be just right!

Ooo I hope you do like it! Let me know how you find it as I'm letting go of my duffle sac and was considering a Helen's but I probably wouldn't like the wide base either. I'm short and don't need any extra width!!! Haha

@Narnanz and other 9033 owners... post-dunk stuffing advice please? I'm having a nightmare trying and it's just not working out:mad::yucky:

I don't own a 9033 but I had a really hard time trying to stuff and shape a Becket. I ended up stuffing it with a square pillow because I couldn't get it to not look lumpy in various places.

The link below shows before and after pics of a Black Pocket Ergo 9033 that I rehabbed years ago. It was a straight-forward rehab. I gave it a bath, stuffed it with towels, and carefully shaped the handle so that it would dry with the right shape.

If you are having trouble stuffing it then try using smaller towels like hand towels or dish towels. I usually use wash cloths or paper towels to stuff the pockets because I don't want them to get stretched out.

When it is getting dry, remove the towels but maintain the shape and start applying Leather CPR and Black Rocks and then buff to get a shine.

Finally, just polish the small amount of hardware and try to replace the hangtag if necessary. Pretty easy, good luck!

Yes, that's mold. The vinegar wipe most likely killed it. You could sit your bag in the sun to ensure it is dead. I would probably dunk to clean the vinegar away. I don't think straight vinegar is good for the leather.

The best thing you can do to prevent mold is keep everything dry. If you had any bags in close contact with the affected bag, I would wipe those down or sit them in the sun. You could store your bags with moisture absorbing pellets.

Yes, I think you are correct that LadaZuri meant the twist part. I had been working on the twist part of a loose turn lock and thought if I could hold the inner "rod" still and twist the turnlock, that it may tighten. I have so far been unsuccessful. LunaSilver's suggestion for the prongs is interesting. I am so afraid not to be able to get them back on flush.
Hi - just wondering if anyone found a solution to the loose turnlock, other than replacement?

I so

Hope it will work for you. I sold mine because the round bottom stick out too much. I found Maggie looks so pretty in photo, but not so much IRL, just my opinion about it, I am sure lots others love it.
On the other hand, the legacy studio flap crossbody 9145 Looks ugly in photo, but very cute IRL
