Sorry for being a spoiler, if it is not aCrap! You're right. Either it isn't a Willis or it isn't the original strap. We'll see what it is when I get my hands on it.
Willis, you can always have the option of returning it.

Yes, I was watching that auction. Now I regret not going higher for it. Oh well, I'll keep looking! There were two just on ebay, one was an auction and one was a bin, which was mine. Look for a 97', that's when this color came out.
That isn't a stewardess. Neither of these appear to be NYC bags so I would dunk them. I usually dunk NYC bags too. The only bags I don't dunk are pre creed bags or bags that seem fragile. I don't know how Debi steams bags but she originally learned how to rehab from this thread or the one before it.Hello all, newbie here. I have at least 20 Coach bags of all ages. I was on the Coach site and saw the refurbished Willis and fell in love. Scoured the reseller market and picked up a black Willis and a red Stewardess (I think). Going to try my hand at restoration. I've been reading blogs and watching YouTube videos. I have a question for all of you experts: one restorer (who does it for Coach), says she stopped soaking New York era bags, but steams them instead. How does one steam a bag?
Also, I'd love suggestions on tried and true products.
So glad to find this group!
Oh ..and whats the name of that conditioner you use that you find better than Blackrocks?Yesss!
Gorgeous blue!My blue station is all done! I love this color, I can't believe I found one. Before and after.
It could be. Soak a cotton ball in acetone (nail polish remover), wipe the bag and see if a lot of color comes off. Thanks to everyone for their helpful tips on here!
I have this black court bag that is currently being dunked. When I first got it I noticed that the leather seemed fairly shinier than my other black bags and also stiffer. As I’m washing it, it doesn’t seem to be getting “softer” like the other bags I’ve washed.
I looked up some things here in this thread and I was wondering if that’s a sign of someone using shoe polish or something similar on it? Or am I just being paranoid and different bags just respond differently to baths? I would post photos but the ones I have don’t really show the shine. Maybe I can try after it dries.
Wow! What a rehab! You brought that beautiful leather back to life.I found this bag at Goodwill in the bargain bin for $1.99. Thought if it’s fake, it will be a good bag to maybe dive into my first rehab. Well, turns out it is authentic (thanks to @whateve for her wisdom) who also said a bath would make her great. She was right, what a difference a bath makes! Oh boy.... I think I have now fallen down the rehab Rabbit hole! I want to rehab more bags!

Ive been really lucky with my buys...they have to come to New Zealand...I been finding that if I spent a little more I get a better bag. Just spent $159 NZ on one today...will have to be my absolute last till next year.I’ve been stalking this thread for awhile, loving everybody’s rehabs. I thought there is no way I could perform their magic, I was lucky this bag wasn’t too bad so good start for me; but now anxious to continue my learning!
Renapur leather balsam. I get it on Amazon.Oh ..and whats the name of that conditioner you use that you find better than Blackrocks?
Yep this is definitely lighter and more blue than navy. Sometimes I can't tell whether a bag is black or navy. This station has a thicker strap that's more comfortable, but that novelty strap would look good. That is a beautiful blue colour! This is a different colour than the navy, right? What a score!
Are you planning on using your blue novelty strap with it too?
