Hello ladies, hoping to get your advice.
I already learned (thanks to you), that when a lot of verdigris is present around a turnlock, the best thing to do is to take it apart and then clean it, but what do you do when it is around the grommets? I have this NYC bag and there is verdigris around them on the top and bottom, how you clean it? I tried with a toothpick and scraped as much as I could, but you still can see it.

TIA

I take a dry paper towel and wipe around the grommet using my fingernails to push the paper towel tightly against the edges. Repeat as needed using a clean part of the paper towel until no more green stuff is coming off on the towel.

I just for a $20 "refurbished" green Kimball zip bag from eBay. It wasn't refurbished at all. I don't know what the seller did but she claims she used Fiebings conditioner and sealer. It looks like any other old used bag with dry edges. I dunked it immediately. I just put a second coat of CPR on it.

This is an old NYC bag that I’m attempting to clean up. I dunked it and as it’s drying, I noticed this spot. Any tips on how to get it out? If it stays, I’m ok with that, but if there’s a way to get it out, I’m willing to try.

I've sometimes had success getting that kind of spot out by diluting Dawn 50/50 in water, applying it directly to the spot, and gently scrubbing with a soft cloth. You would need to dunk it again so the whole bag gets evenly rinsed and dried, otherwise the area you worked on would have a watermark.

All done with the mahogany pocket purse and this one has turned out the best of all that I have done. I am especially happy with how nice the inside and flap underside turned out. The navy legacy zip showed up today and this one will be a challenge I think. Though it is nice that the bottom has not lost its shape and bent. Not too upset for $15.

The navy legacy. The leather is very soft and I love that it has feet.
