I tried to reply to this thread earlier and my computer suddenly lost its mind!

I think that this bag is filthy and I would not be comfortable wearing it until I had given it a bath! I used to fear that the Legacy striped lining and bags were delicate and couldn't be dunked, but since then I encountered a few Legacy items that were so dirty I had no choice but to give them baths . One of them was so filthy that I actually added bleach to the water!

They all came out just fine - and clean! You can see before and after pics of one of these Legacy rehab projects at the links below - and it was really dirty!

I have to wonder if they just don't wash their hands as often as they should. I am sorry, but dirty interiors skeeve me out. I won't buy bags with a nasty inside, no matter how gorgeous the outside is.
I am the same way,I hate dirty interiors. My bags are so clean on the inside, when my daughter borrows one I always remind her to not get the inside dirty.

That is how I am about any preowned bag or even one reported as nwt but preowned. It has to be clean inside or I can't use it. That is why I have paid a little more for my few vintage bags--I wanted ones that were pretty much ready to go. I just don't think I could own a gross one, even with the dunking completed, etc.

Second question,
Has anyone installed their own turn lock in a lined bag? I do sew so I thought about taking out a seam partway, repairing the lock and then restitching it but wasn't sure if there is something I'm not taking into account.

I have only installed kisslocks on unlined, vintage bags. If you attempt to repair it yourself please document the process for the rest of us.

Do you have all the hardware you need to make the repair?

You could also try taking it to a reliable leather repair (shoe repair or luggage repair) shop and asking for an opinion and an estimate.

I've rehabbed some really dirty bags but I make sure that they are absolutely clean. Some bags I have hand-washed multiple times and/or run them through the clothes washer. And I have used a soft nail brush or toothbrush to scrub every inch of some bags.

When they are all done I feel confident that they are clean and I am comfortable carrying them. I am also happy to have saved a beautiful bag from ignominy.

I agree it would be nice to "know" they are clean! I am just not sure I have the patience to do all of the work on bags that need it. I think you all are awesome for what you do with some of these bags. Impressive!!

"This stunning piece is restored & customized with beautiful glitter! This sparkles like crazy and is truly a statement piece."

I'm at loss of words, so all I could do here is quote the seller's description.

Seller also mentions: "Specialized glitter makes it a delicate piece so this is a bag that must be carried with care."

Translation: anything (hands, clothing, car seat, furniture) that touches this bag will probably get semi-permanent micro-particles of glitter transferred onto it.

Hi Ladies!
I've benefited tons from this group in my Coach rehabs, so many thanks.
Now my next question about cleaning a Dooney & Bourke -- anyone have any experience/recos on cleaning the red fabric inside of a Dooney? I've tried using my usual TuffStuff that i've used on Coach interiors and the light pink Dooney interiors with success, but the fabric is not coming clean and I have red transfer onto my towel. Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance
