I am the same way,I hate dirty interiors. My bags are so clean on the inside, when my daughter borrows one I always remind her to not get the inside dirty.
Mine are as well. Everything I put in my bags, with the exception of my keys, goes in either a wristlet or one of my freebie Ipsy bags I get. The interior of my newest vintage Patricia was ridiculously clean, as was a pre-owned 2006 Ergo tote with the striped anniversary lining I got in January. The previous owners were clearly from my tribe :amuse:

You can wash the lining with anything that is safe for fabric. If you use something that requires rinsing, it will be difficult to keep the leather from getting wet. I wonder what people use their bags for when they get this dirty.
I used Folex spray. It doesn't require rinsing, just scrub it, and blot it dry. It made my lining look like new. It works on carpet and fabric.

I won this bag in an auction.

The interior is filthy

Most of the bags I've done have been unlined or had minimal staining to the lining. I was looking for recommendations on how to approach this.

Thank you
I used Folex to clean a lining, but mine was one solid color. You don't have to rinse it out if you can't rinse your lining. Simply scrub/rub it in a little and blot away the dirt after a few minutes. If you use it, test carefully in case the colors run.

Here's an update on my Resilient Regina. I can't believe how this leather can handle all this washing and drying and stay so soft and flexible. The smoke smell is rapidly leaving! So there was a tiny dark area, on the inside bottom, smaller than the tip of an eraser. When I wiped it, nothing came off. The 3rd time I saturated the inside with vinegar water though, ink showed up on the exterior of the bag. After washing it, while drying, beautiful blue ink appeared on the towel and on the bottom exterior of the bag. It pulled the blue ink to the exterior bottom of the bag. The ink seems to be under the bottom panel of leather inside the bag which is why it's not coming up on the inside at all. It's spread out on the bottom front of the bag too. Do you have any ideas? Will it keep spreading when I wash it? The bag isn't fully dry yet. I'm thinking this will be the bag I try E6000 and pretty patches on. Hibiscus or some kind of flowers. Has anyone tried that?

My recent rehab. Still working on the strap needed to glue one little spot. Here is what I did:
Dunk for 20 minutes with Dawn and vinegar
Rinse for 10 minutes with water & vinegar
Stuff with rags for 5 hours to dry then I lightly blow dried the inside
3 coats of CPR
2 coats of Blackrock
Very small amount of shoe polish on the piping as I could not get it to darken up.
Light brush for shine
Cleaned the hardware with vinegar.
Over all super happy with this one, and the color is awesome!
