My recent rehab. Still working on the strap needed to glue one little spot. Here is what I did:
Dunk for 20 minutes with Dawn and vinegar
Rinse for 10 minutes with water & vinegar
Stuff with rags for 5 hours to dry then I lightly blow dried the inside
3 coats of CPR
2 coats of Blackrock
Very small amount of shoe polish on the piping as I could not get it to darken up.
Light brush for shine
Cleaned the hardware with vinegar.
Over all super happy with this one, and the color is awesome!

Wow, the color is stunning! And all those scuffs were obviously superficial as they all are gone. You did great, and so wonderful you saw the bag's potential through poorly cared for exterior!

On another TPF thread there is discussion about customizing and embellishing vintage coach bags. Apparently some stores will embellish a vintage bag but I don't know what they charge.

I don't usually care much for the modern bags that are heavily encrusted with embellishment or decorated with with dark symbols like skulls - no criticism but just not my taste - but I do own 2 recent bags that came with some minimal tea rose embellishment and I like them.

I prefer my classic, vintage coach bags plain and simple as they were originally made, but occasionally you come across a gorgeous bag at a great price that has some nasty damage that you won't be able to fix, like a dark, leaky pen ink spot. It occurs to me that embellishment might be a good option in such cases, depending on the location of the damage, to hide the damage and save the bag.

The link below discusses options for creating and embellishing bags on Coach.com.

This is slightly different from the type of embellishment to which @katev refers but it's another option.

This seller does something different. Whether she buys damaged bags and "fixes" them, I'm not sure but it's another fix:

Me either! There are a lot of artists that paint bags, though. Some are more appealing to me.

I bought Coach stickers on FOS awhile ago with the idea I'd use them to cover up spots on a failed rehab, but so far I haven't done it. I think I'm afraid I won't like it.

Fun page! I got mildly hypnotized watching the animated embellishments going on and off that bag!

No, it's not my taste either but it's another way to hide "issues."

I was in the Coach store in Woodfield, IL recently and I asked about vintage bag customization. The SA said that they will customize vintage bags but she recommended going to the Flagship store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. She said that they have Craftsmen available onsite and a much larger selection of embellishment products. She said that there would be a charge but that they would work with you on the design and give you an estimate.

This is what I used, the color was slightly darker than the bag so I ran it all along the piping to make it even. I like the contrast of the slightly darker piping.

Your bag looks fabulous, congratulations! Just one word of caution, be careful using shoe polish because in some cases it may rub off on your clothes, but since you used it so sparingly it is probably fine.

In future, if you go to a hobby shop or Joanne's Fabrics you can find small bottles of acrylic paints in many colors and shades and they can often be used for a minor touch-up.

Beautiful color! Is the bag missing the hangtag? If you contact Coach customer service they will send you a tag to match the hardware for free.

Nice job!

Thank you for the info on the acrylic paint I never thought of that. I may go pick some up.
No the hangtag is there I was cleaning the chain in vinegar.

I finally scored a cheap Rambler's Legacy and in a pretty color, too!! Ohmygosh I'm so excited! Do you guys think it'll clean up well? There are some rips on the strap that will need to be fixed. This will definitely be the most challenging rehab I've ever attempted. I hope I will have some stunning reveal pics to show you!

I’m a bit annoyed. What else is new lol Purchased a Chelsea Field Bag from eBay and appeared to be in great condition and was listed as “clean inside and out with no issues great condition” I’m paraphrasing but pretty accurate to the description. Just received and the interior has pen marks (and small bits of debris). I’m awaiting comment from the seller as this was not disclosed. The exterior is in very good condition except for a small scrape that I think could just be dirt but will probably buff out with some moisturizer.

I’ve tried searching this thread for cleaning interior pen marks but can only find info about pen marks on exteriors. Could be me not searching correctly lol sorry! I did see “tuff stuff” upholstery cleaner mentioned recently.

Any advice on how to clean up this satiny interior? I feel partially responsible here as a full pic of the interior was not shown in the listing and I trusted the seller which was my mistake. I should have asked for a pic but they should have disclosed. Thanks!!!
