My wallet is like that. I just trimmed off the sharp edges and it works like normal. It doesn't appear to be getting worse. I forgot all about it actually, until I saw your post.

Thank you for responding. I've got a couple of ideas I am mulling over. I think I'm going to go for it and try to win the auction and if I win see what I can do with it. I just really, really have a thing for kiss lock bags. They remind me of vintage bags and just seem very feminine to me. I really want a Coach Lindy and one of the Dinkys with the kisslock coin purse built in, lol.

Ok wax is coming off when I scrape with my finger nail. There's no way I'm scraping this whole bag so I just decided to give it a hot bath. This is so gross. I have never ever had faced a harder rehab in my life. Stay tuned.. not sure if she will be a beauty but hopefully better than before. The layers coming off is making me want to throw up. Ewww, like why. A bag does not need that much wax!

Most of the bags I've done have been unlined or had minimal staining to the lining. I was looking for recommendations on how to approach this.

Thank you

You can wash the lining with anything that is safe for fabric. If you use something that requires rinsing, it will be difficult to keep the leather from getting wet. I wonder what people use their bags for when they get this dirty.

Second question,
Has anyone installed their own turn lock in a lined bag? I do sew so I thought about taking out a seam partway, repairing the lock and then restitching it but wasn't sure if there is something I'm not taking into account.

I use a product called tuff stuff. I pull the lining and spray then rub it in, let it sit then wipe with a damp cloth.
This is the best product I have found for fabric and canvas. Not leather however.... I have got major ink stains out of fabric with it.

I have to wonder if they just don't wash their hands as often as they should. I am sorry, but dirty interiors skeeve me out. I won't buy bags with a nasty inside, no matter how gorgeous the outside is.

It might lighten it, like alcohol would. It is useful in removing paint and shoe polish. It isn't good for the leather, so the bag should be washed afterwards.

Weird thing, Coach used a lining in vintage Madison bags that melts if you use acetone.

Good to know! Before I attempt anything on my latest purchases I’ve been trying to read up on things in here. I wasn’t planning on it but I want to clean the lining on them. They don’t have any stains but I dunno, I just will feel better cleaning the interior [emoji23]

Thank you

I tried to reply to this thread earlier and my computer suddenly lost its mind!

I think that this bag is filthy and I would not be comfortable wearing it until I had given it a bath! I used to fear that the Legacy striped lining and bags were delicate and couldn't be dunked, but since then I encountered a few Legacy items that were so dirty I had no choice but to give them baths . One of them was so filthy that I actually added bleach to the water!

They all came out just fine - and clean! You can see before and after pics of one of these Legacy rehab projects at the links below - and it was really dirty!
