I am considering buying a Coach bag that has a kisslock. The problem is that the place where it folds up, not sure what it is called, maybe a joint or a hinge, is broken on one side. I can post the link or the photo from the link if I need to. Just wondering if it is something that can be repaired.

So my red Patricia came today! She is surprisingly better condition than I anticipated. No color loss at all, including on the piping! I expected to have to wipe her down and moisturize, but she was clean and smelled like leather. So she got a good healthy dose of Leather CPR, and is resting. View attachment 4384674
This is a gorgeous red! Congrats on your find in great condition!

Is there any hope for this bag? I did dunk it and the gave up when the water stopped turning blue.View attachment 4384469
I might have some advice for you tomorrow...I tried alcohol and will let you know if it got the ink out. The inks was inside the bag and bled through when it got wet. I think I got it off, but I won't know for sure until it's dry.

Alcohol can lighten the leather, so while the ink might be lessened somewhat, the spot can look worse because it is lightened all around the ink.

That doesn't look like an easy fix, you'd probably have to live with it
I emailed Coach Repair to see if it was something that they could fix for a fee. I got a really nice email back that basically said I would need to send it in and they would let me know. I kind of wanted to know before I tried to purchase it though, lol. Now I'm trying to make a decision and feel really torn.

I think that Coach will charge you for the repair. If something breaks within a year of purchase they will replace or repair or refund - but not an older item. You should call customer service and ask someone.

Uh oh! This is the smoky Regina. I discovered that a tiny stain inside was ink when I got the bag wet inside, and it bled through to the front. I knew I wouldn't want to use the bag with the dark blue ink right on the front like that. I blotted inside and then outside with alcohol, and then immediately dunked and washed the whole bag. So I hope I didn't do any damage. I will keep you posted. When I blotted with alcohol, I was careful not to get too much into the outside of the leather.

If I had known there was ink inside, I would have told you to use alcohol or acetone to clean it before dunking, as larger ink stains can bleed to the outside. How's the smell now?

The smell is coming out! I've been spritzing the inside with vinegar water and airing it outside. That's made the hugest impact. I didn't realize the dark stain inside was ink. It looked like dirt. This 3rd time, the ink bled through so I quickly got out the alcohol and got water running for a dunk. I couldn't even smell smoke when it was wet after washing it in soap and vinegar and rinsing. After rinsing, I poured vinegar inside and put it back out to dry in the shade.

I’m doing a rehab on a burgundy City bag ( I think that’s the name), I’m having issues with just one corner. I can’t seem to get it to darken up. Any thoughts? I’ve used leather CPR and one coat of black rocks.

Thank You
