Mayday mayday! I need help! I spilled coffee inside my beautiful NYC taupe/grey stewardess yesterday. I washed it as soon as I got home and there is a pretty awful stain (where the coffee soaked through) all the same. I used dawn in it. I don't know what else to use but I feel like I have to dunk her again to try harder. You can't see the stain at all when it's wet which doesn't help me.. I don't even know where to treat her. What is the best stain remover for coffee? Any ideas?

I'm sorry I don't know. I think coffee and tea are used as dyes and so may be permanent like a dye. I might try a cornstarch paste. It works on grease stains.

Yikes!`What the hell was I thinking putting my thermos in there? I thought it was empty! But apparently there was maybe a sip of coffee left in it. Bugger. Oh well I have one idea of something to try on it. A stain remover that is not great for the health of the leather in terms of ph but has never damaged anything beyond drying it out a little when I've spot used it om tough spots.. Good old fashioned laundry soap called fels naptha. Gets out a lot of food stains.

Sorry this happened! I can imagine how you feel. My first instinct would be to dunk her. Good luck!

What about a color safe bleach in the bath? No idea about pH on that so pardon my ignorance.

Leather Therapy has a Laundry Solution and also a Laundry Rinse & Dressing (conditioner), see the link below. These products are designed for equestrians and motorcyclists and other folks that put their leather clothes and accessories into heavy usage.

I have put leather bags in lingerie bags or tied them up in pillowcases and run them through the washer using the LT products and they have worked well for me. If you are not successful with your first efforts you might consider getting these products for another try - either in the sink or in the washer. They are also available on Amazon.

Another thought, shops that sell products for cars like Autozone, sometimes carry products designed to clean leather seats in cars. I'll bet a lot of coffee gets spilled on those leather seats so it might be worth checking out that option.

Good luck and let us know what happens!

About Edge coating. I have NOT had great results. I am used to small painting details, and gave decent results with my rehabs, but man the projects that I have attempted have not come out as amazing as I had hoped. I spent two days on a Camel Legacy Leigh trying to get it right. The results were better then they looked previous, but it was not amazing. The layers were nit smoith/level.
I wonder if it is the edge coat brand that I am working with?(Feblings Edge Kote)

That's what I was thinking. The brand she used in the thread only required 3 layers and came out very smooth.

I have also not had good luck with Feblings Edge Kote, but the brand that she used on her Kelly bag is Vernis and it looks amazing!

After being amazed by the great job done with the edge coating, I feel really "subpar" sharing my experience with fixing the worn out corners of this bag, that has a mix of exotic leathers.
Please forgive this newbie at rehabs, if I commited a grave sin by using nail polish, but it really looks better IMHO and I know that if one day I decide to sell it, I would have to disclose it, not soon as I really like it.

This is how it looked first (just one corner, they all looked more or less the same).

This is after (First I used acrylic paint mixed with leather conditioner, and looked great but dull, not shiny like the rest, so I used the clear nail polish, but a very thin barely there coat, that I patted with a paper towel and left the marks, that kinda match the rest).

It looks great! I bought acrylic gloss varnish to cover the dull acrylic paint. That is why I often use fabric puff paint instead, because it is glossier.
