Blackrocks Leather N' Rich is a leather conditioner that tends to darken and even out color but it must be applied lightly. Obenaufs LP (Leather Protection) is to condition and give some protection against the elements, i.e rain, snow, etc. It does darken leather initially when applied but the leather usually will lighten back up again. Glove tanned leather generally will not need Obenaufs but I like to put on a few applications to be on the safe side. It also has antibacterial properties from beeswax and retards mold/mildew growth as well. When I get an old bag I like to apply a few rounds just in case. Hope that helps!

You're welcome-good luck!thanks so much; that is very helpful. i saw it on amazon, but wasnt sure about it. i've been using apple, but wanted to try something else for a change.
Lucky you! I love box calf and the Plume is such a gorgeous, classic bag. I am not sure if she recommends BR for box calf. I seem to remember her mentioning a good neutral polish like Meltonian (sp?). You might want to just PM her before you buy any products to double check.Good job, ladyaven!
Speaking of the treatments, I acquired a beautiful red box-calf Hermes Plume that has topical scratches and needs some TLC. I remember you guys mentioning DocRide's thread about treatment, and I read it again...but she refers mostly to the natural colored box-calf, not colors. I haven't had time to directly reply to that thread and ask her, but since you ladies were already discussing it... Do you think the Obenauf's or Black Rocks will do anything to the color, given how they react/darken glove-tanned leathers?
Thank you !! and I did have to do some polishing on that brass and they tarnish so fast too!! I used Wrights Brass polish for most of the larger pieces, and then used a brass polishing cloth (less gloppy/messy) for the smaller areas, and the zipper teeth. That is AWESOME, Jessi! Great job! Did you have to do much work on the brass parts?
Here's how she looks with a little love and polish. She's great for work - to carry my netbook and Kindle, plus essentials I love the old Talon Zippers!

the bottom of the bag shows a little bit of the brass feet where they are attached inside the bottom. Otherwise, she cleaned up well.
OMG! She looks amazing! Wonderful job, congratulations!
So how do you like the Black Rocks? It's not the easiest, most pleasant-smelling stuff but it really helps cover wear and even out the color!

Absolutely stunning-what a wonderful job!!! It looks like a totally different bag. Congrats on a great rehab, vintage Coach leather is definitely amazing. Isn't there something so satisfying about getting a beat up old bag and bringing it back to its original beauty? I think I have definitely been bit by the rehab bug. I am glad you liked the Blackrocks-I swear by it. The smell does take a bit of getting used to. If you do end up getting some Obenaufs you will love the smell--it smells like honey! Again wonderful job and thanks for sharing with usHere's how she looks with a little love and polish.
