Thanks ! I take it as high praise coming from you :smile1: I have to say that the Blackrock definitely does penetrate some of those extra dry areas just a bit better than anything else I've tried. I am ordering some Obenaufs soon just to have another comparison. And I haven't tried Leather therapy yet either though I just bought some. I am now thinking I'd like to find another super dry scratched up bag and do each side of the bag with different conditioners and comparing them from scratch. The Blackrock does smell weird, I agree. I was put off by the initial "sticky" after-feel I got from it, even being extra careful to not over do it. But with a little resting time and buffing, that feeling finally improved, so I guess I will be happy to use it more often now. I was happy with the results for sure!!

It took me a long time to become a fan of black rocks too but now I like it for very scuffed or uneven color bags. I haven't tried Obenaufs yet so I will be interested in your appraisal. Nice work!

Absolutely stunning-what a wonderful job!!! It looks like a totally different bag. Congrats on a great rehab, vintage Coach leather is definitely amazing. Isn't there something so satisfying about getting a beat up old bag and bringing it back to its original beauty? I think I have definitely been bit by the rehab bug. I am glad you liked the Blackrocks-I swear by it. The smell does take a bit of getting used to. If you do end up getting some Obenaufs you will love the smell--it smells like honey! Again wonderful job and thanks for sharing with us:smile1:

Thank you so much. ! I definitely am a Blackrock fan now. I was worried that the wax in it would prohibit leather breathing over time ( I am clueless about chemical make up of the various conditioners), but it seems to be formulated for long term health so I'm "all in" now. - Excited to move on to the next project, of which I have too many :D

 This is my very first rehab! Hope you enjoy, I was totally inspired by Docride and Katev's work.
Bag was shipped to me, person forced smashed it into a box that was smaller than the purse was wide!
It was horribly misshaped. Interior was filter with lint, dirt, cat hair and more.
Corners and surface of the bag showed tons of scuff and wear marks.

Went to Coach and they gave me a replacement hangtag :D
but hardware is silver instead of brass colored,
I covered it up with a LOVE charm and purple ribbon

I know it's not perfect but reshaping it was tough! :shrugs:

Awesome!! Love that bag! What conditioners, etc did you end up using? You can grab the silver-toned ball chain strands at the hardware store to string through your hangtag so it all matches too if it bothers you. But it looks gorgeous !!

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you guys liked it. It makes me want to do more!

As for what I did and conditioners used:
I know a lot of people say not to soak a lined bag, but I figured since the lining is black as well as the leather, it wouldn't be too bad. Plus it was really dirty. So I soaked it in warm water and scrubbed with soap. Used an old toothbrush for hard to get spaces. When it was still damp/dry I used blackrocks. When dry, I reconditioned again with blackrocks, let it rest, then Leather CPR several times, alternating with blackrocks on the scratches and discolored parts of the leather. I personally don't like to finish with blackrocks because of the feel of the leather it leaves behind, though it's excellent for moisturizing - it has the consistency of vaseline in my opinion. I find that Leather CPR gives a nicer smoother touch. Surprisingly, I didn't use my apple conditioner - don't like the smell it gives, though it was one of my first conditioners I ever had.

Oh and the hangtag, I meant the purse has brass hardware. Hangtag has silver, but I used a brass ball chain I already had, thanks though :)

I am getting anxious waiting for my first "rehab" to show up...a olive patent leather Chelsea with some color transfer issues

Not sure there is any hope for her...but gonna try!

Do you have auction pictures? Perhaps someone can advise you about the best rehab approach.

I do! I want the bag in the wine red and there is a damaged one in it too...so if this works, I'll snag it!
