Need some help please!

Just got this one. .. my first Willis :) it's actually in much better shape than I expected! Made problem is floppiness and Verdigris. Questions:

1) the turn lock is a little loose. The back is covered so I can't get to it. How do you tighten/replace these on this bag?

2) should I do anything special to protect the wooden dowel?

Thanks!

So all of a sudden today I get the urge to browse Poppy Glam and Spotlight bags on the bay and the more I looked the more I wanted one (the old school pop C print).

Then I remembered...

I ALREADY HAVE THE GLAM! :) It has been sitting in a dust bag for years and has moved through several states with me lol I will NEVER sell this because it was my first ever bag as a gift from my husband during his first deployment<3 I beat the ever living daylights out of her though and had out her away because she got so dingy. Alas...she went into her dustbag in 2007 and I'm just now taking her out. The leather is in perfect condition as well as the zipper but the staining....oh the staining!! LOL:)

After reading through the rehab posts I decided to give her some love lol! Time to test out a few tips from ladies on here to get her back to top notch condition. Here's some before pics:

It's not easy, but I've removed turnlocks from the Willis before. You just need a veerry thin flat tipped screwdriver that you can reach into the bag with. It takes practice which I tried on other easier bags first before going for the ones that are hard to reach. I also use an Exacto knife with thin flat blade, just have to be careful not to slice the bag or yourself :nogood: The Dowel survives a bath just fine. I take a small screwdriver and remove the d-rings on the handle and all the other brass that I can remove, then do a batch brass clean all together. Then I put it all back together and wash the bag so that the water doesn't flow too much into the holes that would otherwise be in the dowel handle ( just a theory since it may be fine regardless)

I got the cover off but the turn lock is actually attached to that extra oval piece of leather and doesn't go through to the inside :(

Would this be a repair Coach would do? It seems to be a failure of the hardware.

I don't think so. I have seen this before. The hardware doesn't have anything to do with keeping the dowel upright. I think the leather has weakened or stretched to make that happen. It is possible that the previous owner didn't store it properly.

Coach would probably replace the turnlock though. They used to send turnlock kits but they don't do that anymore.

Strange, my experience has been for the turnlock piece that there is two metal "flaps" you lift up (this is inside the purse), then there is a flat metal piece under that, the turnlock should be removable from the bag at this point

Sorry, I wasn't very clear - I meant the turnlock. You think Coach would fix that?

Hello,

Does anyone have an advise how to rehab a Coach venchetta leather bag that has water stains on it? The leather looked like an LV monogram bag but this bag is a Coach Signature satchel with venchetta leather. It has some water stains on the bottom and the sides.

Thank you.

I also have this other bag, Coach F17123 Perforated Leather Brook Hand Bag Tan, that has a small black ink (inside the circle). Any ideas how to take the ink off? I went to Coach store but they weren't able to give me any idea how to take it off.

The inside of this is purple and the area near the zipper has some sort of black stain/dirt lining, how do i clean that too? I am kind of "scared" to use anything as it might destroy the leather/lining.

Thank you so much.

The lining is easy to clean. You can use any nonbleach cleaner or soap and water. A small amount of water touching the leather won't hurt it as long as you don't let it sit on it. Getting the ink off without hurting the leather is a lot more difficult. Your best bet might be to find some matching acrylic paint to cover it up.

There is a lot of information in the LV thread on how to clean vachetta leather. I think there is a cleaner made specifically for vachetta. I have a vachetta trimmed bag that I washed but the water stains didn't go away.
