Okay, another unveiling!! I bought this one (according to my notes: Companion Flip Crossbody - tell me if that's wrong) along with the other one I posted the other day which was my 1st rehab. This was a dull gray and flat and droopy. I did the dunk in the sink with Dawn - not really dirty or stained, lucky for me, let dry - started Leather CPR after 24 hours - did that twice and finshed up with a light coat of Black Rocks - it is now a beautiful taupe?/olive green (not from BlackRocks -didn't notice any darkening with that)....what a diifference some TLC makes! Here is a link to what it looked like when I bought it (the drab gray one):http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lot-of-2-vi...3UQkhGfoZPezZcpTisxH8%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

and now!

Beautiful! I don't know if that is a typo but it is a Companion Flap, not Flip. :D

Hi everyone!

I'm rehabbing my first bag, a Coach convertible clutch, apparently from the late 70's/early 80's. It's black leather. So far I've soaked it in warm water with Ivory detergent - the water was dark brown... I then rinsed it off, used a washcloth with Ivory on it to scrub it down, and have been rinsing it off with lukewarm water again. I've rinsed it off at least half a dozen times and dark yellow water keeps leeching out of the bag!

I guess this bag is particularly filthy - has anyone had this happen before? I'm wondering if there's a way to speed the process up, or should I just keep rinsing it with warm water until it finally runs clear? It doesn't seem like any dye is running that I'm aware of. I'm amazed at how much dirt this bag has held on to over the years!

I soaked a bag for 24 hrs once. The previous owner applied what I can only guess was shoe polish and the water took forever to drain clean.

Ahhhh the dooney v day gift saga continues and im at a impasse!!! spoke with dooney who would neither confirm or deny and manufacture defects in the coated canvas lines i have both a miami collection piece where the white is yellowing for no reason and this vday gift/project where the coated canvas is seperating from the material underneath.... sigh here's all i could get out of them including attempts at cleaning or repairing myself, for all interested, " please send the bags into Dooney & Bourke where a specialist will inspect the bag for posiible repair. They will mail me a letter in 7-10 business days explaining there finding and what options are available"

This is aBROAD spectrum issue with these IT bags i had no problem relocating thread all over the www about the issue but no answer on how to resolve it!
Here's where Im torn... do I continue to attempt the rehab (DH standing behind me assuring me im some bag rehab god lol ya right) or give in send it to doont BEFORE i touch anything and hear what they say! I really am torn lol i love rehabbing but this (from what I read) is a defect Dooney is recognizing and replacing damaged bags or applying credit to people no questions asked, If i still get the bag back and can still play frankenstein LOL I dunno i was shocked they had no advise or answers in regards to this issue but send it in!!!

What do you ladies think?
