Nice!! I have this bag, too, and love it! Such a great bag, easy to wear and holds everything. Looks beautiful!

Thank you!! I haven't worn it out yet because it has been rainy here and I haven't sprayed it with apple guarde yet. I did try it on in front of the mirror and loved how it looked - so classic and timeless!! I attempted to buy a navy one on ebay and was outbid at the last second, but I guess that will give me more time to enjoy this one!!

Quick question for all of you rehab masters out there. I purchased a bag that has significant wear/color loss and is looking really wrinkly in one area (it's another drawstring bag, so the wrinkles are right where it was probably drawn back and forth the most). I don't expect to ever get it looking brand new unless you can do a facelift on bags, but I am wondering which conditioner is best in cases like this. I have apple and blackrocks and I'm not sure if I should use one or the other or both or something completely different. Thanks for the help!

I've never been successful at removing wrinkles. Blackrocks is preferable for bags with a lot of wear. You can also refresh the color with paint or leather dye.

Thanks whateve! I didn't have high hopes for removing the wrinkles.. although it makes me wonder if some skin cream for wrinkles would work haha jk, I will go with the blackrocks then and hopefully it will even out a little. I don't mind it looking worn, I think it gives the bag character, but I am hoping it just blends a little better. Also, I noticed the bag has some small circular impressions on the back - it could be from the strap maybe during shipping? - but from your experience do impressions release over time or could they be permanent?

I think that the impressions tend to be permanent but I think it is dependent on the softness of the leather. I think you have a better chance of them working their way out on a softer, lighter weight, leather.

Does anyone know if I can use blackrock OR obenauf on a new and vintage legacy duffle without one or the other darkening the leather? I guess using both would darken, but what about just one of them?

I currently use apple conditioner and am looking for a thicker conditioner, especially for the vintage duffle.

Also, I'm not sure I got a definitive answer on this but wouldn't the Apple rain and stain guarde prevent conditioner from penetrating the leather?

Blackrocks can definitely darken. If you are looking for something a bit stronger than Apple, I would try Leather CPR. It doesn't darken leather IME

One of my vintage accessories came with a little booklet "American Classics in Leather." Here is an excerpt: "The untreated leather is rotated in drums where it is softened and enriched with treatments drawn from natural plant extracts, fats, and clear aniline dyes. The leather is imbued with a sensual, earthy fragrance."

Doesn't that sound like they add something to make it smell good? Doesn't it seem like Coach leather smells better than other leather?

I agree that it is addicting. The funny thing is that I first noticed the fragrance on my siggies so I think it may be added to the fabric too.

I'd like to hear how you like the leather filler and what brand you bought. I have one on my ebay watch list. I'd like to know if you can use it to fill in scratches. I wonder how thin/thick it is. It seems to me that to stiffen the handles, you would need to get the filler distributed throughout the handles, not just in the splits. I guess it depends on how floppy they are.

I got my leather filler in the mail. I bought Leather Master Leather Filler. I am going to try it on the little Maggie bucket dd and I are rehabbing together for her bff's Christmas present. I will report back with pictures and results :smile1: The bucket is black, so I thought it would be the best project to start on. I am planning on either mixing dye with the Leather Filler or using the leather filler and then covering with black Leather Refinish....haven't decided which, might try both on different areas and see which yields the best results. Thoughts on which might work better?

I have no idea! I've been waiting for you to figure it out! I think that it might be better to put the refinish on after. Mixing it in might change the the filler's ability to adhere.
