I figured out my own multiquote system!

I would try something like apple or leather CPR first to test it?
I'll try Leather CPR.

There is an amazing thread about layering Blackrocks and Obenaufs LP on natural untreated vachetta and darkening the leather over in Louis Vuitton land on here. These ladies were treating all vachetta LV's, and the bags turned out amazing!!! Since an all vachetta LV is not in my budget, I am going to try it out on the natural Willis when I can find a good one on ebay. I am not sure about only doing one spot though. I am wondering if you could do it over all the leather and the lighter spot would end up blended in.

This is a cloth bag with vachetta on the bottom and the handles so I was thinking about just doing the bottom unless it makes it so the handles don't match.

I am willing to experiment since I got this bag really cheap. It was part of a lot I bought on ebay.

I hate the way the vachetta leather spots with water. If it were badly waterspotted, I would dunk it first. It kind of evens everything out, let it dry then apply leather therapy maybe 2-3 times. Then Blackrock's 3 times over 3 different days, then to make waterproof, 2 coats of the Obenauf's over 2 different days. I did this with my vachetta Dooney as well.
I already dunked the bag and it didn't help at all. I think the stain on the bottom may not have been from water. I'm not really sure but the vachetta may have darkened from the dunking. The handles are darkened around the edges - I like the look.

I don't have leather therapy. Will Leather CPR work the same?

I think the Leather CPR will be fine. Will probably make the stain less noticeable once you get some moisture back in the leather.

Multiquote isn't working :( If it is cardboard in the handles, I would guess if they got really soaked they would eventually get floppy. When I hold the handles, they kind of bend/bow rather than keeping their shape. I am going to try and fill in all the splits with leather filler and see if that reinforces the handles enough. The stuffing is still inside the handles....my leather filler should come this week and then we will see.

I'd like to hear how you like the leather filler and what brand you bought. I have one on my ebay watch list. I'd like to know if you can use it to fill in scratches. I wonder how thin/thick it is. It seems to me that to stiffen the handles, you would need to get the filler distributed throughout the handles, not just in the splits. I guess it depends on how floppy they are.

Can you put Blackrock or other conditioner on natural vachetta leather? What will happen to the color? The vachetta I am working with was water-stained so I sanded off some of the stain but now it is lighter than the rest of the vachetta. I would put it out in the sun if there was any. Can I use conditioner to even out the color?

I always use the Blackrocks and Obenauf "recipe" on my vachetta bags. Docride the resident leather care expert over on the Hermes sub forum swears by it and that's where I learned about it. It helps to prevent water spots and definitely darkens the color somewhat. I have also in a pinch used Magic Eraser very, very lightly on the bottom of my LV Noe to even the color/remove dirt. It is a last resort though because it really dries out the vache.

This is a pic of my LV All Vachetta Noe after being treated multiple times with Blackrocks and Obenauf. I even got caught in a rain/snow storm once on the way home from work and the water spots just dried right up without leaving any marks.

Just drooled on my computer! That is STUNNING!

Okay ladies, these may be the two dumb questions of the day:

I have a basic bag with the glued on serial number. I can dunk that right?

Same bag - it has a super shiny finish - if I dunk it will it come back?

The rehab projects are piling up and I told myself no more new ones until I get at least one done!

I have dunked many bags with a glued on serial number with no problem. Those things are stuck on there pretty good. It makes me wonder why we find any missing the number. I mean, someone would have to have tried very hard to pull it off.

Not sure about the shiny finish. It might be conditioner that someone put on there.

Yes, for the most part, dunking is just fine. Each bag with glued creed I've dunked has held up and I can't speak for all bags, but I've had no problems. Also my two NYC brown Basic bags with glued creed maintained their shine just fine too.

Thanks ladies! I'm out to hunt down the rest of my supplies tomorrow, then the rehabbing will begin!!
