Most of the time Coach will send you replacement hardware as requested. As far as the other someone else might be more knowledgeable about that.

Great! Thank you guys!
I have several that could use a missing part.
I also got a red 1996 olympics sling thats missing a zipper. the track is still on the bag but zipper gone mia.

I will post my other bag with parts for free as its kinda of old, Coach might not have them anymore but someone here might need it.

Your post makes me wonder, do we have a section for Coach parts? or if I call they might still have parts and could be repaired? im talking about older bags.
Example here I have a nice little black leather crossbody with some missing hardware, where as someone over here might be looking for replacement handle or might have the piece im looking for? I wouldnt mind trading or offering them. I cant sell the bags and I certainly cant throw them away?
I also have a used to be nice straw/suede white bag, I think its beyond repairing but the hardware is immaculate.

Do we have a section where all of us could post what we can offer for repairs? or does Coach usually ship out parts as needed?

Toughts, anyone?

If you have any replacement straps those are like GOLD TO US!!!! so, yes please let us know, even if you want to sell them etc. The sellers on ebay are charging really high prices and it's depressing to pay $35 for a strap when you found the bag at a thrift shop for $10 !

I"m curious... it seems to me if the little demi I have is the same as the one you have, that it's maybe a vachetta leather? which was originally a lighter color and they naturally "darken" and patina with time. ? I'll have to check into that

I think that in Louis Vuitton's classic bags with coated monogrammed canvas and light leather handles, the leather is vachetta. If you go over to the LV forum, you'll see people fretting over the darkening of the leather. I read somewhere that it darkens with actual handling, but also with exposure to the air. Someone did a tutorial of how to lighten the leather back up, using Magic Erasers.

I only learned about this company in the last week when I picked up a LV handbag at Savers for $14. The bag originally sold for nearly $1000, and it wasn't zip tied to the board like a Coach bag that I wanted to buy, but was hanging with the junky stuff. The Coach bag, a vintage drawstring bucket was priced twice as high. It was in pretty good condition except for a huge dark ink mark on the front :(.

The details and measurements look exactly like mine, other than mine has the stamped on number, not the glued in. It's a very cool bag, and though the leather is nice and thick I don't find it to be especially heavy because there's not a lot of hardware.

Can't wait to see it!

Here's my flickr link, and I would love some opinions on the last two photos:
The only thing that stops me from dunking her is the fact that as is, that tiny dot of ink showing on the front pocket I can live with. If getting her wet causes that ink to bleed through, I'd just CRY. But, do ya think if I just literally quickly wet her in COLD water, just to reshape her with no aggressive soaping, etc., it might be ok? If the ink is old, its probably set in and probably won't budge, but THAT's unknown to me!!

Ooh it's gorgeous-could it be taupe instead of british tan, or is that just the picture?

I would have a hard time resisting dunking her, and I think you're right, that ink will probably go nowhere, but if it does...ouch! you could spot check the inside with a damp cloth on the inside to see what rubs off with cold water without really soaking the leather so it won't cause it to go through if you're really nervous about it. I think cold water wouldn't cause it to bleed but you never know.

If Coach has the part, they will give it to you, free of charge. This includes hangtags, turnlocks, etc. I just called today and asked for the keychain part that was missing from my vintage wallet. They don't have the part anymore but they were willing to send me a split ring in brass as a replacement.

There is a section for posting Coach items you are looking for. You aren't allowed to buy or sell on there. It is generally for purses and such but I don't see why it can't be used for spare parts too. I don't know of anywhere that you can post things that you are willing to give away. Maybe there should be a new thread for this.

I am always looking for a strap for my Italian leather satchel.

Me too! I think the strap from my black sheridan is the closest to my two little italian satchels but I'd like to find a real match.

GOOD IDEA!!! I'll spot check it. Yeah, I agree it seems to be taupe more than Brit Tan. It's the softest leather....It's almost identical in feel and color tone to my Postal Courier bag and old Rambler bag.

I love that old thick leather, mine feels great too, that's one reason why I was so hesitant to do anything to stiffen it when I covered the spots. It came out pretty good though. I love my old taupe willis, it's a great color-it's not as old as this, I think I figured out '93ish-it's got the old serial number instead of a style number-it looks like this color. It kind of reminds me of aged vachetta.

That bag is just gorgeous.....

If thats any help, on the lightweight drawstring I just rehabbed, there is an ink spot of about 1cm, round. when I dunk the whole bag under hot water and Dawn, it did bleed but it didnt make the dot smaller. I think it may be permanently stained... I could try a trick I read about, rubbing alcolhol on the ink stain, if it works, ill let you know!
