You bring up a great point about the hangtags!! What I do, since I need to keep track of what I spend for ebay profit analysis, is I take the price tag off the bag, and I thread the hangtag chain through a little hole I make the price tag, and write the name and style/creed#'s on the back of the tag so I can always rematch them up later and fill in my record books, etc. I stick all those hangtag in their own recycled baby wipes box which has that handy little opening in top for popping in tags... and I keep it in my laundry room where I do most of my rehab work. Any old box, shoe box, etc. would work. IF the bag doesn't have a tag attached, I just keep scrap paper handy and quickly fill out my own bag/style information on it and attach it to the hang tag for later match up.

Hoooolleeee cow...You are one organized woman!
I wish I were that organized.

:smile1:...and yet I STILL manage to not be able to find some of the price tags when it actually comes time to write my sales in my ebay ledger LOL. so frustrating! I have literally DOZENS of tags to wade through by the time I reach that point!! I think if I'd have started ebaying stuff for fun before thinking..."hmmm, lets make this a business of some sort" then I'd bet you I would NOT have a clue of where I stood on my inventory ever! I just had the idea "bloom" in my head one day to just try and become a business. It's been slow going but fun!

This stewardess bag (eBay purchase) was a pretty easy rehab - unlike the black one that I'm "still" working on! There was fading on the front flap and some on the bottom corners. I gave her a bath, used Neatsfoot oil, leather therapy, apple and finally black rocks. All applied a day or two apart. I love the color and can't wait to carry her. :-)

Very pretty!

That bag is gorgeous and what an amazing job youve done restoring this bag!
I wish I knew more about how youve done it all but im sure its a long and hardy process.

It sure feels good to read this thread in part, to see how I am not the only one thats a little obssesed about Coach handbags. I also 'rescue' some from the evils of Salvation Army or other places like flea markets and second hand stores.
What I like is trying to clean and restore them, some of them are pretty beat up when I find them but since its so cheap to buy them the way I do I dont mind at least trying to make them pretty again.
I found a bag I think is vintage, not knowing that much about the year it was made or model, but ill make sure to post before.after pictures over here for sure!

This bag didn't take much. I bathed her in using Dawn dish soap and stuffed her after a complete rinse. When she was almost dry, I used Neatsfoot oil and let her finish drying. Then it was just a matter of conditioning every day till I liked how she felt. I did polish the brass but even it wasn't really bad. I'm looking forward to seeing your before and after pictures!! :-)

LOVE your Stewardess, 2Blessed! You did such an amazing job with her!

Thank you!!! :-)

And I have to add; I have learned everything from the fantastic ladies on this forum! You all have turned rehabbing these Coach bags into an addiction! Always looking for my next "fix" and often paying more because I'm itching to work on another fixer-upper! Thanks ladies!!! =]]

Thanks for the pointers!! I was planning on this being my weekend project.
I posted the Befores in the Authenticate thread :)
Just to be sure.
I am pretty good cleaning the fabrics and I am always a little scared of rehabbing leather cause it feels so fragile and I didnt really know what to do.
Do you rub it a little bit with the soapy water bath? (im laughting here, re-reading my sentence)
I have a nice conditioner I like using with leather so I got that part. I was just planning on visiting a store near me, its an old fashioned western wear store and they have saddles and all kind of leather goods, I know they carry products for leather as well.
Ill make sure to post the Afters once im done

I've done several bags and were un-lined ones but I still have a lot to learn. On this bag, I used warm water for both wash and rinsing. I hand rubbed the leather both inside and out. On my really stubborn black stewardess, I used a soft brush on the inside of the bag and a sponge on the outside.

I have heard others here say to be careful about some leather care products as then contain chemicals and waxes that may not hurt a saddle but could affect your fine Coach bag. So far I have only used pure Neatsfoot oil, leather therapy, apple conditioner and lastly Black Rocks. Some of the more experienced ladies here can tell you if the products you plan to use would be ok on your handbag. I think some of the heavy duty equestrian products could make your bag stiff and/or have an unpleasant odor.
Best of luck! I'm looking forward to see your transformations! :-)

Good to know!! Im gonna start with the warm bath and go on the hunt for Neatsfoot oil this afternoon. Where did you find apple conditioner and back rocks? By all means I hope im not coming across as ignorant, as english isnt my 1st language, ive never heard of such products! My guess would be at a shoe store? Interesting!!!
Of course now that I heard all these good tricks I am itching to go on the hunt for more purses.... Aaaaahhh!!!
