I have a Kristen pleated satchel in cognac from last year that has lost color on the corners. Any tips on how to rehab that? The wear areas are lighter, it seems like it needs dye but that seems very scary to me.
Blackrocks is great for masking this. It isn't a permanent solution, but as long as you keep applying it as needed, it is usually all you need. You can also try to find an acrylic paint to match and mix that with conditioner for a more permanent solution that is less scarier than dying. You can clean it off if you don't like it.

That's a beautiful bag, I have the KPS in black patent and I love it!

Your bag may just need gentle conditioning and cleaning to darken the worn areas. It would be helpful if you could post pics but it doesn't sound like you need to dye the bag - that is only necessary in extreme situations.

Sometimes you need to do a little acrylic paint touch-up on worn areas, but I doubt if that is necessary for such a new bag. Take a look at the amethyst bridget at the link below. The piping was faded but ledobe use blackrocks conditioner on one side and you can really see the difference!

Since I'm in a holding pattern waiting to get my hands on my Watermelon Tote, I decided to tackle this gal this week.

I wiped her down with Lexol Wipes to get some surface crud off and applied some Oxy Gel to a couple of spots. About to put her in a bath with some Dawn Complete and scrub her down.

She'll likely be my first use of Black Rock as well, so I'm excited to try it!

I'll keep you posted if I can pull off an extreme makeover with this little chocolate brown lass!!

Wow, she really needs help! It looks like there may be darkening and greening around the hardware, does the bag have verdigris? If so you should remove the turnlock hardware for cleaning. See the pics at the link below that shows the affects off verdigris on brass and leather.

Hi all, my first time in the rehab and care forum...I need help for two bags, please!

Bag 1: Coach Soho Small Hobo - Cream
its pretty scuffed up but the stitching is solid and the inside is clean but a signature fabric.

Bag 2: Coach Demi -Hot Pink!
its also structurally sound; however it has a nice scuff mark on the bottom corner.

Thank so much!

The hot pink bag may need touch-up, but first I would try cleaning and conditioning to see how it looks. The cream bag looks good in the pics but if it has scuffs, dirty marks, and flaws, I would give it a bath and see how it looks after it dries. Light-colored bags are very hard to rehab and sometimes they need to be touch-up, painted, or dyed.

Let us know what you plan to do and if you have questions and the rehabbers on this thread will try to advise you. Nice bags, good luck!

I'm not seeing any green around the hardware, but I'll keep an eagle eye out for it!

Did a little Leather Therapy oil last night while still a little damp. Looks a LOT better just getting all that crud off! Definitely needs a few rounds of conditioning as it feels pretty stiff - not overly dry, just stiff - so once it's fully dry I'll get to work on softening the leather up.

I am a bit scared, but I am thinking of trying my first rehab project. I have more research to do on the thread where y'all so thoughtfully share info, but I am worried I won't be able to read it all before the auction ends on this bag......

http://www.ebay.com/itm/23084115199...:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1426.l2649#ht_11820wt_1271

My questions -

1 - Is it crazy to rehab a suede bag?

2 - Can you soak a suede bag like I have read you do with the leather bags?

3 - will the "lint" as they call it be able to be removed?

4 - I am not too concerned with the soiling on the inside, but do you think it will come out?

Thanks so much!

1 - Is it crazy to rehab a suede bag? no, but its not usually the first type beginners try. The combination of leather and suede means you have to be careful to keep conditioners off the suede parts.

2 - Can you soak a suede bag like I have read you do with the leather bags? Yes, the suede is just the reverse side of the glove tanned leather.

3 - will the "lint" as they call it be able to be removed? It should

4 - I am not too concerned with the soiling on the inside, but do you think it will come out? I honestly don't see any soiling.

I really don't think it needs anything beyond a good brush down for the suede and a careful conditioning for the leather parts. Its a really cool bag.

Also, have it authenticated in the authenticate this thread, before you bid on it.

Thanks so much!
1 - Is it crazy to rehab a suede bag?I think it will rehab just fine. But it is a bigger challenge for someone new to rehabbing.

2 - Can you soak a suede bag like I have read you do with the leather bags? this should soak fine but may not need it. It's in great condition it seems from the photos. But if you are hesitatant to own a vintage/used bag then its a chance you'd take if you prefer to wash it. I don't always soak vintage bags that are truly rare if I feel they don't need it

3 - will the "lint" as they call it be able to be removed? certainly if its just surface lint/debris

4 - I am not too concerned with the soiling on the inside, but do you think it will come out? I am not seeing any obvious set in stains. Saleara is usually thorough in her photos and descriptions. Get this authenticated while there's time, and then, otherwise it seems like a great bag.

Thank you both! Most of my bags are preowned, so I don't mind that at all. It didn't look soiled to me either inside. Seems like the worst issue is the "lint" on the outside suede part so maybe it wont need a soak. I dont mind scuffed up leather and actually kind of prefer my bags to wear their travels on their sleeve so to speak. :) I think the lint might bother me though so I think I will bid on it and try to give a good brushing - less to read up on and worry about :)

I really want a black backpack and have been unable to find the one I am looking. this one is close in size so I am excited. I am going to have it authenticated. Good idea!

Very cool bag! I haven't attempted rehabbing a suede bag (YET!), but looking at the pics, I agree that it probably doesn't need to be dunked. Good luck with the auction - hope you get it! :D

Looking for some input/advice. Just got my Watermelon Tote and I adore it!

One issue is under one of the handles. Some of the leather has worn away on the seam, which I'll likely try to address with acrylic paint. But...I'm concerned about dunking it with this issue, however she definitely needs reshaping. I'm think of dunking everything BUT the handles and just cleaning the handles with Lexol. Thoughts? Here's a pic of the handle:

Not dunking the handles is the safest action, but I would probably go ahead and do it, and just keep the handle conditioned as it dries. I don't think it will get any worse, but you don't want it shrinking up as the leather dries.

Thanks! Should I be worried about water getting up into the material of the handle? I'm a little more concerned about creating a mildew/mold situation inside the handle than with making the leather issue worse.
