Thanks! Helpful to know. Did you ever have problems with color transfer onto your clothes after using these rehabbed older bags? I figure I
Have to buff really hard to get color off so I am hoping it will be ok. I just don't like thinking too hard about which bag to use.

No. I have several. Black, blue, tan, British tan and dark brown. No color transfer onto clothes.

Aren't most color transfer problems due to dye from clothes rubbing onto light colored leathers?

No, never had any color transfer onto my clothes.

I have heard of denim transferring to bags but not bags onto clothing.

I've had printed cotton totes rub ink off onto lighter color clothing. I haven't experienced dye transfer from a leather bag onto clothes, but since this is what I experienced during the buffing with the cloth getting stained, I figured it might happen with wearing the bag. Good to know that you have not had this happen.

My 1995 City Bag is done! Fortunately she was in good shape to start - no major scuffs or scrapes.

You may remember I posted an issue with a floppy leather tab on the strap. I tried some fabric glue to reinforce it. It looks less than gorgeous, bit it does feel more firm, so hopefully it will hold up.

I'm really loving this style and can't wait to take her out for a spin. :)

Yup - that was me! I actually used Aleene's Fabric Fusion on this one and I think it did help. I'm a big fan of the Fabric Fusion - I've used it on some split hang tags as well and it works great - holds well, dries clear and the leather still has flexibility and bend once dry.

Ok another chapter in the hangtag replacement saga: Today I got a vintage bag in the mail that is missing the hang tag. It's navy with brass hardware. I called Coach again (and) asked the rep if I could order a tag for it. She she could help with that, took my information and said it would be sent out!!! So far so good. . so I told her I'd just gotten a replacement tag for my white bag but was sent a tan colored one and it looked awful. I asked her if I could get a brass colored one that would at least match the hardware on that bag. She said she would request they send me one. I asked her If she needed the bag/style info on the white bag and she said she didn't and that she had placed the order for it. She also said I should have the tags in 3 to 5 days!!!

I'll update when they arrive! (fingers crossed!) :-)

Update on the hang tag replacement. Today I received two envelopes from Coach! Both were brass hang tags. I had almost given up hope as it was a little more than the 3 to 5 days! LOL! It is a big improvement over the tan tag on my white bag. I was surprised though that they replaced the navy tag with a brass one but it still looks fantastic on my navy convertible clutch so I'm very happy about that!

But I had to call Coach again this morning as I lost the tag off a brand new bag yesterday. It was really odd because I've never lost a tag off any of my bags before and I only went to the grocery store. Can't imagine how it came off. Anyhow the color of the bag is cornflower. The rep said they will send a silver metal tag because they don't have any to match cornflower. I'm hoping they find one to match since it's a new bag - but still a silver one is better than none.

Thanks!! I carried her today, and I officially love the City Bag! Classic looks and very functional. So glad I have one in navy blue in my to-do pile!!

I have a "sort of" reveal. My navy City Bag that looked like it had been wrestled away from a cat. This bag came in a lot of three bags that were in such abused condition. My navy Swagger bag, that has faded to a dirty green on the outside was in this lot as well!

Here she is before:

And where she is right now:

Damage on back side before:

The back now:

Here is my question, dh polished the hardware with his dremel with those special felt/soft fluffy attachments....can't think of the proper term right now :) I think I might need to order a replacement turnlock from Coach, as this was the best he could get it to:

Any tips or solutions? The top and back where the most damage had been still need more conditioning I think. I think she just needs a daily dose of conditioner for like a month! I have done Black Rocks on her, but have thought of now going to emu oil in these areas. Any suggestions?

Hello :)

I am hoping someone in here can help me. I see so many of your beautiful bags in the after pictures with no scratches and scuffs! How on earth do you get them out of the leather? I have a maggie I am working on and her previous owner seemed to just toss her around. She has scratches and rubbing on all the corners. I'm trying to make that blend in with the color of the rest of the bag. How do you darken it up? I REALLY appreciate anyone who can help me :) Thanks!

Can you post pictures of the scratches? Maybe we can throw out some ideas :)
