Here is my question, dh polished the hardware with his dremel with those special felt/soft fluffy attachments....can't think of the proper term right now :) I think I might need to order a replacement turnlock from Coach, as this was the best he could get it to:

Any tips or solutions? The top and back where the most damage had been still need more conditioning I think. I think she just needs a daily dose of conditioner for like a month! I have done Black Rocks on her, but have thought of now going to emu oil in these areas. Any suggestions?

I am giving this a little bump....does anyone have any feedback on this brass turnlock? Should I request a new one from Coach? Thanks for any feedback :smile1:

everyone knows how I love my dremel/power tools...but...sadly, the dremel sometimes -on some brass (not all)- makes the brass worse, not better. No idea why. So, go ahead and try Bar keepers friend or honestly ANY brass polish by hand only, first, ( I go through LOTS of Qtips) before ordering a new turn lock. Granted, a new brass one will look gorgeous, but won't stay that way for long with use. So, it's a matter of personal taste and patience I"d say. Good luck

Ok, thanks. I got a new polish today and will try that since I have it on hand, then Bar Keepers friend if it doesn't work. The rest of the brass looks great from the dremel :D

I will have to get some because I hate polishing hardware! Is it abrasive?

I have used it on all metals with great results. You can't go scrubbing like a mad-person, but a gentle scrub and buff and it works beautiful. Bar Keepers is what they used back in the day on bar railings (brass) and fixtures (copper), etc. I love the stuff and it is anywhere from 1.99 to 3.99. Can't beat the price. Did all my copper pots with it and they came out awesome!

Can you post pictures of the bag? It would help to actually see the problems.

I think you can see it. The problem is the rim in this picture. The same black stuff is in mostly on the handles almost all the way around the rim. I'm wondering if there's no way to fix it or to clean it is there a way to protect from further damage. I can't find and suede protection.

To further stop damage I'd use something like this:
http://leatherstuff.com/shop/view.php?id=284 Apple Garde spray. I've used it on vachetta and all kinds of leather.

To clean it before spraying, --that is a tough one! I think as gorgeous and detailed as this bag is, it would be a process of small gentle experiments. Have you tried to do ANYTHING to her yet? Even a suede "eraser" etc? My few suede bags needing cleaning are so basic/boring that I am planning on just popping them in the washing machine or dunking them, but your bag would not be one I'd want to consider doing this with.
