Good advice, I rewashed the navy city bag to remove all the conditioner I put on it and it is still drying. As soon as I find time I will try it out.

I used it more as a tint on the Chadwick since the color was faded. But I have used it straight out of the jar, no conditioner, on a Kristin with very good results.

I have a dark blue City bag that needs the tinting as well. I haven't had time for it since getting the boys back to college has been job one. Can't wait to see yours when it is done.

Ok so here is a tip if anyone is thinking of trying Leather Refinisher coloring. I fall under the category of " if a little is good then a lot is better" ding dong. So I was working on my British tan Chadwick. I mixed the medium brown with my leather conditioner. I had the color just right but since there is a nickel size water stain on back I thought oh heck make it a little darker.

It was too dark and the color sat heavy in some spots more than others. My choices since color was not set yet, but it was dry, were wash again or rub alcohol on it to lift color. Then I thought since color is not set and I mixed with leather conditioner then more conditioner should pull color up. It did.

I rubbed conditioner in with my fingers and wiped with a wash cloth. Perfect color now. Phew! :)

Good to know. Thanks!

This is where I'm at so far. She released so much color in the bath that the water looked like orange kool-aid. I still need to clean the brass up.

Accidentally sent. Here are the after pictures. :p.

Gave her a good soak and scrub with Dawn and a little Mean Green on some dark spots, rinsed well and stuffed her! Got out the needle and thread and fixed the piping. Two rounds of Leather CPR made her nice and supple. Two rounds of Blackrocks and a little buffing made the wear on the bottom corners just about disappear.

Should I continue with more Blackrocks on those trouble areas?
Can anyone identify the color...darker than British Tan...Tabac maybe?

I think I'm ready to call my Lula's Legacy complete. Here's what she looked like when I picked her up for $14.50:

And here she is now:

She was already in good shape, just a little faded with some piping scuffs. Now she did smell like aftershave, but after some time with some odor absorbing gel, she smells more fresh - the scent still lingers a bit but not in an overpowering way.

Process was basically bath in Woolite, an application of Leather Therapy Restorer while still damp, two applications of Leather CPR, one application of Cadillac Boot & Shoe Care, and, finally, an application of Leather Therapy Leather Finish to give her some protection from the elements.

I think Ms. Lula may just accompany me on my business trip to Orlando. I leave tomorrow and come back on Friday. She's really keen on meeting Mickey. :P

She looks great, and I am sure she will be a good traveling companion!

I think she looks fabulous, I would probably leave her alone for fear of making things worse instead of better, she gorgeous.

I will try and hunt up Hyacinth's post on colors. Nice work!

Maybe Tabac or Saddle:

I've been thinking about your bag. What happened with the swirls? Don't feel badly about it. I was rehabbing a Kristin and screwed it up. I colored some damaged spots with leather refinisher. I didn't stop to think that when I mixed pewter with turquoise it would make a sparkly blue smoke. Instead of cleaning off the spots I painted the whole bag. :( dumb move. It looked good but not original. So out came the acetone. Yes, gasp, acetone. That messed up the original color so it had to be recolored. Turquoise and black makes smoke blue. A month later the bag was done. Top it off with Brasso on the brass hardware. It turned nickel. :(.

I Blackrock'd it, but the lines are still there.
So I ordered some British Tan Leather Refinisher stuff. When it gets here, we'll see if that does it.
