Hello Rehabbers! I was hoping for a little more advice on my courier pouch. So far I have bathed her in wool wash, using a soft sponge that had Lexol cleaner on it to scrub at the stained looking areas. I have put 4 applications of Leather CPR on so far. I am quickly seeing that the Leather CPR is not going to be strong enough....well maybe if I used the whole tube! I got Leather Honey in the mail today and I have Black Rocks coming next week. But, as you can see from the pictures below, the stained looking areas are still there. Should I throw her back in the bath? Wait for the Black Rocks and hope it will even the color out more?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Honestly, if it were my bag I would scrub it in the sink paying extra attention to the stains, then treat the dirtiest areas with oxy-gel, tie the bag up in a pillow case and cycle it through the delicate cycle of the wash with woolite. Then stuff it to shape and dry and use a few coats of leather cpr before applying blackrocks.

I have never used leather honey but I have heard nice things about it. Here are pics and info about a similar bag that I rehabbed:

hi katev.. newbie here.. im new in this handbag rehab stuff but i am very interested to learn.:) i recently had a project, a black coach calfskin hobo, (i started small) and i was sooo happy with the results. thanks for all your tips!
however,i just saw this purse at a local thrift shop and i just felt i had to rehab it.. i know this is a coach forum but i cant find a thread like this in the michael kors forum.. will you please be kind enough to help me?.. i just want to know if i can still clean this purse somehow.. i have no idea what has caused the discoloration at the bottom of the bag.. i think its made of polished leather, its very smooth and still shiny. the inside of the bag is really clean too with no stains, so whatever has caused the discoloration is only on the outside of the bag..

thanks so much katev!!

Pretty bag! Light colors are always challenging. I have very little experience rehabbing MK products. The only MK item I've rehabbed is the wallet shown at the link below. I gave it a bath and it came out okay.

So my guess is that you could treat this bag similar to a coach glove-tanned bag and dunk and scrub it, but I don't know that for sure. I seem to recall that the leather of the wallet didn't seem quite as thick as a vintage coach bag so I would be careful to apply moisturizer while it is damp to keep it from drying out.

Maybe some other TPFers have more MK rehab experience and could advise you. You could start a new thread in the MK forum to ask for rehab advice. Sorry that I can't be of any greater assistance but please let us know how it comes out!

I think my bag may not be as structurally sound as yours was, it has splits in the leather in several places. Do you think it would stand up to going in the washer? Will the oxi-gel remove color? I guess I feel so bad for this poor bag, it was very abused before it came to live at my house. I have been babying it like crazy. My husband picked it up casually to show it to a friend (showing friends my "weird" new hobby :p ) and I instinctively lunged to grab the bag back....yeah, I'm off my rocker!

My little archives....nothing like some of you ladies though but a collection none the less....most of these are not rehabbed yet.

I am slowly going through this thread and I just had to say - what a beautiful display! At this distance, these bags don't even seem to need rehabbing! I think it's great that you treat your bags so nicely and display them elegantly like this...mine are just lying on closet shelves where there's space...not even all in order.

Yes, we do become attached to our rehab project bags!

Can you show pictures of the damage?

A lot depends on how much you paid and how willing you are to take risks - and keep in mind that it is possible to damage a bag during the rehab process. I always ask myself "Am I willing to wear this bag in public in its current condition?" and if the answer is "No" then I usually decide to risk damaging it to try and improve the condition.

You can also take it to a cobbler and ask for an opinion. You don't have to do what he advises but it is can be a good thing to get input from an expert. Good luck!

I actually think that the less well-known brands are often overlooked while a more commonly recognized name like Coach gets marked up, even when it is fake or in bad shape or both! I have found beautiful bags by fiore, furla, kooba, marc jacobs and dior very cheaply because there were not recognized, IMO.

Here are pics of my $13 Kooba Devin, poor thing, I need to work on it!

And this is what it looked like when it was brand new!

That bag is gorgeous! And yours will be gorgeous I'm sure, once you'd rehabbed it. I understand you wanting to take your time and do it right. Any plan yet or is it still on hold?

Yeah, but apparently I took some color off. Has anyone restored a teal Sabrina before? I thought I saw it on here.

We are mostly into rehabbing bags. I did a search on this thread on sabrina and nothing came up; but maybe it was posted elsewhere on the coach forum. Could you post a picture of the color loss, perhaps we can offer some suggestions.

Here is some pictures of the damage:

The buckles on this bag are VERY heavy an I think the leather got too dried out and then wore down in that area. I don't think I will ever get this bag back to pristine condition, but those stained areas are still noticeable after the bath.

This poor bag has had a rough life! I would still try the washer if it were my bag, but that's up to you. I would moisturize it soon after washing to try and prevent further were and damage. But perhaps another rehabber has a different suggestion. Good luck!

Hello! I have a Taft bag (black) that DH sprayed with leather gloss. He didn't over apply it but it's sticky nonetheless. Like coated in hair spray sticky. It repels water great though. Would a wool lite wash and scrub take it off?

I think it would wash off. You could just use leather cleaner if you didn't want to dunk.
