I have rewashed my black convertable clutch and have put several layers of Lexol conditioner on it but the back and front flap of the bag still has a matt finish. I did order some Blackrock from ebay last night. Will this product give it a nice shine or is this the way the leather is supposed to be on this bag. it is Confusing to me because the leather on the body of the bag under the flap has a nice sheen. maybe the outside of the bag is just worn??

I think that the blackrocks will help a lot, but you will need to buff the bag after you've used the blackrocks and given the leather time to rest.

Yes it does-it sounds like they both work pretty well, so it may depend on price for me. I have two or three bags that need more moisturizing that I seem to be getting from Leather CPR.

They are both kind of pricey. I get the leather therapy oil at a local tack shop and they mark it up, but at least I don't have to pay shipping.

Here is the bottle of emu oil that I bought, but there are many vendors and you can also get a small bottle to try it out. I got a big bottle because shipping was free and the Kooba Devin that I planned to use it on is a very large bag.

It's the strongest moisturizer that I have used so far - but again I haven't used it very much. I am quite pleased with the work it did on my tan patricia's legacy that was very, very dry.

I believe that blackrocks does "finish the leather" because it contains wax.

I do not think that emu oil seals or finishes the leather. Coffee&Coach was the TPFer that recommended emu oil to me and she told me that if I wanted to finish the leather after applying the emu oil, I would need to rub the bag down with beeswax.

I bought the refined filtered 100% pure emu oil but I never got around to rehabbing the bag that I had asked her about (a $535 2008 Kooba Devin that I found at the thrift store for $13 - I should get that out and work on it!)

Anyway, I was doing everything I could think of to moisturize my tan PL but it just sucked up the leather cpr and therapy oil and stubbornly remained dry and stiff. I suddenly remembered the emu oil and decided to try it and I was immediately impressed with how much better the leather looked and felt.

That's all I know, you could pm Coffee&Coach directly for more information.

Thanks. I'll get some from the link you posted. Much cheaper than the prices I saw.

$13.00?? We have NO thrift stores around here worth shopping at. All the Coach bags I've seen at the thrift stores here are at least $40.00. :search:

I actually think that the less well-known brands are often overlooked while a more commonly recognized name like Coach gets marked up, even when it is fake or in bad shape or both! I have found beautiful bags by fiore, furla, kooba, marc jacobs and dior very cheaply because there were not recognized, IMO.

Here are pics of my $13 Kooba Devin, poor thing, I need to work on it!

And this is what it looked like when it was brand new!

Well since Emu oil seems to also cure all the ills of mankind, I think I'll try that. :D

hi katev.. newbie here.. im new in this handbag rehab stuff but i am very interested to learn.:) i recently had a project, a black coach calfskin hobo, (i started small) and i was sooo happy with the results. thanks for all your tips!
however,i just saw this purse at a local thrift shop and i just felt i had to rehab it.. i know this is a coach forum but i cant find a thread like this in the michael kors forum.. will you please be kind enough to help me?.. i just want to know if i can still clean this purse somehow.. i have no idea what has caused the discoloration at the bottom of the bag.. i think its made of polished leather, its very smooth and still shiny. the inside of the bag is really clean too with no stains, so whatever has caused the discoloration is only on the outside of the bag..

thanks so much katev!!

Thanks so much !! I had thought about doing it this way, but nowhere in their customer service info did they actually SAY hangtag replacement...just straps and turnlock/hardware kits. This is great to know. And yes, I wonder what my year limit would be LOL. I only need about 20 or more :D

You're welcome but can't take the credit, followed katev's advice and it worked.
