Here are the after photos for the Compact Pouch 9620. It's a cute bag. It's a little bigger than a scooter but made in a similar manner. I washed and shaped it, touched up the strap edges with acrylic paint, conditioned it, treated it with blackrocks, and polished the hardware with wenol.

Came out incredible, as all of your rehabs do!!

Anybody wanna see my Coach babies??? Quite a few are rehabs I've done. Sometime over the weekend I'll take photos of my as yet untouched rehab pile.

I decided since my living room is still bare from the post tornado work being done, it was my best chance to have space to line everybody all up! I guess I kinda understand why my DH is a little annoyed with me LOL. I am kinda new to the Flickr sharing thing, so let me know if this isn't working!!

(Darn I hate being at the very BOTTOM of a thread page) LOL

Now I know where all the great bags are! LOL Awesome collection. And wanted to say IF you don't like rehabbing the red bags, I'll take those off your hands. My secret addiction is red handbags and shoes. LOL

WOW! That is some collection--just beautiful! My favorite are the Cashin era bags.

Very nice rehab, as usual...your work always inspires!

All I gotta say is...WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW! Fabulous collection!

Beautiful job on the briefcase...I'm thinking I need to visit our outlet store for some tags...never (really!) been there!
I'm new. I am trying to find out about cleaning up my older Coach bags. I have several from the 1980's. I have been reading about washing with Ivory. Will that remove color, especially from red? Also, I asked Coach about a strap repair, and they said they don't do that. I have one with a strap attachment that needs work. I noticed you sent one for grommets. If they do that, wouldn't they re-attach a strap? Thank you. Deb (Ohio)

A cobbler is probably your best bet for leather repair. Katev has had good luck having a cobbler do work on her straps and cheaper than the fee it costs to mail things to Coach. I do however, think Coach should be able to fix it. Depends on the bag and what's exactly wrong with it I suppose. Did you call their headquarters directly or ask a local SA at a Coach store? Any mild soap works for most rehabs. I also say wash a red bag at your own risk, because I've had a couple that only bled a minimal amount of dye and did fine, and a couple that just did not look great after the fact....(uneven dye loss in places.). Others on here have had success with it. I will only wash red now if it's just so dirty and stained that I have nothing to lose. I start with Lexol cleaning wipes (or their cleaning solution with a sponge), and then progress from there. Good luck. Post photos if you want us to see specifics- then we can give better advice.

Welcome to rehab...
It was angelaira's post (http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-185.html#post21812091) that mentioned grommets. You might want to ask a reputable cobbler for an opinion, if Coach can't help you. And if you can post some photos of your strap problem, our members may have other suggestions...photos always help!

While I'm relatively new here, I've recently bathed and rehabbed 2 red bags, with varying degrees of success. My best advice is to read, read and read as many of the posts here as you can...I know it's a lot, but you will discover many different methods, get a feel for the process and learn about different cleaning, conditioning and finishing products. You can use the "Search this Thread" box at the top of any page to find specific topics. For example, type in "red" and you'll get shortcuts to posts that mention red bags.

Probably the biggest thing I've learned is that EVERY rehab is DIFFERENT...and quite often there are unexpected surprises. I don't mean to scare you, I just want you to be prepared. Feel free to post "before" photos and ask for advice. We're all here to share our experiences and help each other. Good luck with your projects, and keep posting!

comments/descriptions are in the flickr images. Let me know if this doesn't work. Photostream of before:

photostream of after: (feel free to tell me what you would do) I haven't done anything more aggressive (paint) because I may end up selling her since I have other styles I like more. But she's a cool bag with wonderful leather.

I dunno...I just love reds so much!! And don't wanna wreck her. Or dye her, or paint her. But that doesn't leave many options..LOL.

I assume you've tried Black Rocks to see if it darkens and evens the color? It doesn't look horrible in the picture. (PS: I have the Tribeca 9098 in Eggplant).

If you do a search on "red" in this thread you'll find my red spectator City Bag. I would say the color evened out on that one after a few baths and some Black Rocks, but she was in bad shape to begin with. She's been peeking out at me from the hook I have her hanging on in the closet and from there she looks pretty good from there, I kinda feel like I owe it to her to take her out to the grocery store or something, she's not had an easy life, poor thang.

:roflmfao: I laugh because I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks like this.

yeah the after shots are definitely with blackrocks and leather cpr already on her. I may just sacrifice her to ebay and let somebody have a go at her who is really looking for this type of bag. I am more into shoulder and crossbody bags mostly. But I'll hang onto her a while longer and decide if I should go for one more bath or not. And I may consider some red fiebings dye eventually. I can probably live with the darkened areas just because I am not too bothered by a little vintage "wear".

Thanks, I've been trying to respond. I'm having trouble posting again. I deleted everything and tried all the suggestions from tPF troubleshooting. I hope this gets thru.
