I never though of acrylic paint & moisturizer. I may try that. Thanks!

I've mixed acrylic paints with ArmorAll Gel, Leather CPR or Lexol. The amount of paint to conditioner is up to you, but for an overall light application, I've done 50/50 or maybe a little less paint. Either conditioner worked well for me, the gel is a little richer, Lexol a little thinner. I've used t-shirt scraps to apply to the body of a bag or little sponge-tipped eyeshadow applicators for piping. Good Luck...hope this helps.

Oh, and I have a grandson named Liam!

Beautiful, as always. And I cannot believe the prices you are finding these bags for! I'm with Angelaira and would like to see a family shot soon...

Thanks! Since my rehabbed bags take up significantly more closet space, I'm looking for a closet stretcher right now, so I can do a family portrait! I'll be working on it today...will post later, I hope.

Hello, all! Just thought I'd share in case anyone was interested.
I was looking around again today, and found the Leather Therapy Leather Laundry Solution for $30 a gallon.. I truly am dying to give this a try (Is this the brand you use, katev?), but I can't trust my bags to our washer since it has that central agitator (versus front loading). Seems to be a pretty awesome price, as last I checked, it was ~15 for a smallish bottle that was definitely not half a gallon... I don't know what shipping costs are though - I always go to the B&M store.

Ahem.

If my husband complains, I'm blaming you.

:cool:I'll plead the fifth:graucho:

Did you win this?? If so, please put some brag pics up

lol-I can't believe I paid that much for it but I was looking at the online sale and debating a couple bags, and I had that on my watch list, and essentially decided that I would have more fun with the vintage bag, and set up a bid for around what I would have paid if I'd bought one of the new bags. He's already sent a tracking number, I hope I get it Saturday but I'm kinda thinking it will be at least Monday.

I hope it's awesome, I'll post pix either way. :)

Andrea has been on my wish list for a long time...she was made in the Fall of 2006. It's hard to tell if the leather is just worn or if something's on it. I used a bit of leather cleaner on the handle and it got some of it off, but definitely not near what I would like it to. Overall I guess it's not too bad, but I did contact the seller to see what she would offer. I still haven't gotten a response, so I guess we'll see. I've been searching too long to send her back, lol. :smile1:

I'll defer to the acrylic experts, I haven't tried it yet and I'm trying to avoid bags that need it. I would definitely condition, condition, condition, to see if it rubs out first with the oils.

That is a cool bag, love the color!

I posted the before and in-progress pics a few days ago (http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/coach-rehab-and-rescue-club-624452-188.html#post21825423) and now the reveal!

Finished up with a couple of rounds of Leather CPR and black acrylic touch-up on the strap edges...she's ready to return to the world! I've always loved this bag...the leather is really light and soft, compared to my others. Now she'll be my go-to bag!

Thanks everyone, as always, for your kind comments, inspiration and encouragement on my rehabs...I truly love this forum!

wow, that came out great! were the brown and black "in progress" pix after the acetone treatment?

I'm still thinking about what to do to my trash can city bag to kick her up a notch. She's serviceable but not beeyootiful. I was thinking today that if I don't come up with a plan for her she may end up being a handy way to store and transport my leather care products, but I don't think it will come to that.

I just didn't have the energy to drag them all out for a formal portrait today, so I shot 'em where they live...and did a little photoshopping!

The ones on the right side of the horizontal shelf have been authenticated (Hyacinth has been wonderful!) and rehabbed. The ones on the left (slumping) and most of the ones on the vertical shelf are in line for authentication and most will be rehabbed. And on the floor (which I had scrubbed just for them!), all but the Day Pack have been authenticated. Of those, only the Mercer Computer Tote hasn't had a bath.

Oh yeah, did I mention the belt collection? BeenBurned has graciously authenticated all of them over the last week or so.

Thanks everyone for teaching me how to care for this brood...there's lots yet to do!

Thanks! I'm excited to have her. The seller got back to me so we'll see what she'll do.!

Liam is a good name, lol. Thanks for the advice. I may order the leather CPR from amazon and hit up Michael's for a paint match. I'll condition like crazy first though! Maybe that will lighten it so I don't have to paint

No, the black & brown "camo" was a result of trying vinegaroon (look at P 85 #1266:
Bath, Vinegaroon & Minwax Ebony. P87 #1299: LINK TO DROPBOX PUBLIC FOLDER (step-by-step of the whole process) and P94 #1396.

I didn't shoot one of the after acetone and magic eraser...it was pretty ugly!
And I probably should have used acetone from the hardware store, rather than nail polish remover...don't think it did as good a job as it could have. But now she's packed and ready for a night on the town. Come on 5:00!

OK...I'm about ready to dive in to my first rehab...can anyone tell me if this bag is a hard one to rehab? I'm kinda worried about the "encrusted with pet hair" blurb! LOL

This is a nice black bag, it should be a very simple rehab... dark colors, especially black, are by far the easiest to do! And you are starting out well ahead of the game because this bag already at least looks nice in the photos. I couldn't tell if it was lined, and I don't have one like this, but if it isn't lined it will be a piece of cake!

Oh my gosh, this bag came out incredible!!! You used Minwax on this right??? I am in awe!!!! Hmmmm.... might be time to find a bag I can do this to... I am such a glutton for punishment sometimes!!!!
