I have a coach suede bag, that I had gotten when I was about 13[My aunt had gotten it for me at the outlet] it's a really small bag. Anyways it's got some discoloration on the bottom. Probably from using it so much. Is there any way to get rid of it?

I really would like to try and get it looking nice again, so I can maybe pass it down to my future kids or something.

Do you have any photos of what it looks like? We need to see what kind of wear and discoloration before we can really advise. Some things can be solved through washing, some with just a suede brush or suede eraser, and some are non-solvable... it all depends.

Are any of you Coachies familar with Ugg bags? I found a bag for $5 today and I was thinking of cleaning it up for my neice if it is authentic; here's the link:

I have a couple of pairs of Ugg boots. Your bag looks like it is really clean and in good condition. That spot looks like it might be removable with just a suede eraser, then maybe go over the whole thing with a suede brush, and it should be good to go, unless it has an odor...

Hello ladies! Still haven't rehabbed since winter, but I'll be starting again soon (maybe today?). I do have a question though... I have at least 15 bags waiting to be worked on, and some of them are really dry. Would it be wise to condition them all while they're on the waiting list, so they don't get dryer/worse? Or is it a case of "they've been dry for years, a couple more days/weeks/months won't hurt them significantly"? It would seem silly to condition one today, and then dunk it tomorrow. Thoughts?

Nooooooooooo!!! Say it isn't so!!! You can't stay away and let all those treasures slip through your fingers. Just sell some of your current bags while you find more finds! : )

yep, I totally gotta sell sell sell.... which was my intention mostly when I started all this...a hobby that could make money on the side. Except it seems that for every bag I find to sell, I find one I can't part with LOL... so, I just have to be more careful to only buy when I have paypal money squirreled away. As long as he sees more of my actual "paycheck" -he'll chill out, which I gotta admit I have been out of control at times with the thrifting thing. But it makes me soo happy- so...now I have to get creative. .

I agree with you. Although I have put a light coat of apple on the dryest bags in the waiting list. It seems that if the leather re-absorbs a little moisture it handles the bath well. There are cases of extremely dry bags crumbling in the water so If I have a bag that's starting to crack I put moisturizer on it right away, just to be safe, and let it sit a good while so that the leather gets what it needs, and if any excess washes away it's better safe than sorry.

Thanks, Jessi! It's good to know I won't be alone in doing this - i was thinking exactly how you put it - if excess washes away, it's better safe than sorry. In a way, it's like my bags will be getting first aid so they're stable while waiting for the ER to be freed up!

I am amazed at the activity in the thread!! Quite thrilled, really. I can't wait to dive in again, but will be testing the water with my toes with this light conditioning of the worst bags first. This time, I intend to savor every bag too - last year, I went on a rehab spree, and I feel like I didn't get to "bond" with my bags as much. Hopefully, I'll have pics to post soon!

I wish we had a Savers store!!! Nice finds. I have a couple of Dooney's that I tried to sell on Craigslist. Only one offer - at about HALF the already reasonable price I wanted. No deal, they're still in the closet. I just can't seem to leave the house without a Coach :)

True about the Dooneys. I do love them!! Love the vintage all weather leather ones. But unlike Coach bags, they just have a low resale value. I don't know why but it's kind of frustrating.

That sheepskin stuff is pretty durable. As always take my advice with a grain of salt but I'd saturate the ink with alcohol and dunk or wash it, repeatedly if it needs it.

You know me though, I'm pretty brazen about these things.

I think I got mine at Target, in their shoe department on some dinky little rack they have polish on. I know the best one I ever had was made by Coach, and I am pretty sure Ugg sells cleaning kits, and probably suede erasers as well.

The ink stain I think I would attempt to just cover, maybe with tiny dabs of acrylic blended with a moisturizer... I have not had any luck removing ink from the suede linings of any Coach purses, and I think the Ugg suede is softer. It is very strong, and you can do a lot to some Ugg boots... I have one pair that I wore in winter in Colorado, and they are not pretty anymore, but they kept my feet dry and warm our entire trip, which honestly I was not expecting.
I would think that you could mask that ink stain with the acrylic, in tiny little dabs that penetrate the suede without mushing it down or flattening it, and then after it dries you could lightly use a suede brush to just texture and blend it again. Might be far less risky than trying to wet the ink, as it might run where you really don't want it and make it worse.
Here are some photos of the suede brush I have now:
http://coachbagrehab.blogspot.com/2012/05/suede-brush.html

It has nylon bristles, where my Coach one used to have metal and nylon, and the eraser seems a bit more crumbly than the Coach one was... it was a casualty of my divorce, and wow I wish my ex had not tossed it!!!

The only Coach suede brush I could find on e-bay like the one I used to have:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUTHENTIC-C...WH_Handbags&hash=item19d09118b2#ht_520wt_1123

You can see that the brush has dark bristles, and the eraser is a dark color as well.
