Wow! That is one cool bag.

I am already bidding on another bag that seller has - it's an orange kisslock tote - may as well go for a tri colour set

There is also an old Bonnie Cashin with the mexican lining on Ebay at the moment, but it is about $500 from memory. I thought about putting as link just for interest sake, but wasn't sure if others would be keen to see??

Feeding your addictions right now, Bonnie Cashin Guitar Strap on Ebay right now http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-OMG-E...253?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3cc5cf36a5.

Sorry for anyone that was trying to be good!

Thank you. Sounds like you have had an interesting life, living in many places and experiencing many things, and that's just as a child! More than many people pack into a life time.

My Jimi definitely has a sense of humour. He does not like our dog and goes cranky on her, telling her "out Sol, out. Naughty dog!". She tries to steal his food, not that she enjoys fruit. I think it might be pet rivalry..

Aww, thank you!! My doggies are characters, we treat them like kids when the kids are away with other parents... and the kids love them when they are home during the summer.

No color loss at all, and the two geometrics are already mostly dry. The Willis had to have some edge touch up with acrylic, but otherwise, really easy rehabs today.

And I adore your parrot!!! I had one named Linus when I was a kid living in Mexico. He used to give me kisses and he was amazing. In Bolivia I had one that was really sick, and I used to uncover his cage every morning wondering if he was still alive. My mom brought antibiotics back from the US, and he recovered, after laying in the bottom of his cage on his back for almost six months. He was never tame, and would try to bite my hand every time I went near him, but he eventually learned to talk. Linus never talked, but this one would talk and repeat everything. I was about 16, so I had to watch what was being said in my room so the bird wouldn't tell on me, lol!!!

Thank you. I'm going to try the lanolin on the backside of the inner pocket first and see what it does. I will also glue before conditioning.

I am also really trying to have patience with this one. After checking this morning she actually seems to be getting darker as she dries, but the leather is quite dry and stiff and I think she is in desperate need of a drink

That's too bad but I am sure you can greatly improve her looks. I would lightly glue before conditioning. I do use Blackrocks but I don't know the exact components of it. Maybe you could look it up online and find something similar in Australia. Obenaufs is good also (it basically conditions and makes the leather water resistant) and will darken it--not sure if it will darken it as much as you need it to.
I am wrestling with the same problem with a tan watermelon tote that drank up the conditioner and came out very mottled and uneven looking. I was surprised because the Blackrocks usually helps to even out the color. I ended up giving her two baths (one using a scrub sponge) and she came out better but I am still in the process of layering the conditioner on. KateV was right when she said rehabbing tan bags can be a challenge! Usually I have good luck but this tote is giving me a run for my money.
I am sure the other girls will chime in with some advice, too. Good luck!!

I'm going to try a clear drying glue that is flexible when dry and apply with a match stick. Precision glueing!

Here's my two cents - for the glueing, I would use very little so that it does not get on the leather when you squeeze it together, it can cause white marks and just a different texture to the leather. I would definitely glue it with leather glue that dries clear and again, only use a tiny bit.

I have no advice for darkening, so others can chime in on that one.

Thanks for the link. How long between applying the oil and the colour fading down to its final shade? I'll try that on the back of the inner pocket next to the lanolin and see how they look. I've had the lanolin hanging around at home for a while now, and I wouldn't mind finding a use for it

You used extra virgin olive oil - like you'd buy for cooking or salad dressing, right? How many times did you apply it?

I would like to try paint out too, but I'm not sure what kind of paint to use. Are you all using fabric paints or is it special leather paint or just acrylic artists paint?

Yes, I have used extra virgin olive oil on a few of my bags, the most hopeless ones that needed darkening. It will darken about two shades, so test it first, and as it dries it will lighten up quite a lot depending on how dry the bag is. I took some pics this morning of two bags I used olive oil on so you can see what they look like today. I also had my husband smell them to see if he could tell any difference in those bags, the only difference is that one smells like Tide from where I washed it in the washing machine with Tide, lol... the olive oil has left no smell or residue that we could discern. Both bags now retain their moisture, and look much better than when I first started with them, and if you scroll down in my blog you can see how dark the first application of olive oil was on the tan bag, it was almost like coffee brown when first applied because the bag was so dry.
Here is a link to the entry I made just so you can see:
http://coachbagrehab.blogspot.com/2012/05/extra-virgin-olive-oil.html

As far as slices in the bag, I would maybe try sealing them with matching acrylic paint because it is much more predictable than glue will be, and it will hold something like that together. Glue might darken too much or get where you don't want it. I would put the acrylic into the slice, push it tightly together, then wipe away any excess with a paper towel. And, I would do this after all drying and moisturizing, so that you can get a good match, like a week or so after....

I used the same extra virgin olive oil that was hanging out in my kitchen, I got it at Cost Plus world Market when they were having one of their great olive oil deals... I think it took a couple of days for it to fade after I applied it to the tan bag, and the navy blue one never really had much of a color change from it, which is sad because I wanted it to get darker!
And for paint I use acrylic craft paint or acrylic artists paint (in the tube), depends on how thick I need to apply it.

Nice finds! Some days when I go to savers there are loads of great bags and other days there is absolutely nothing!

I have purchased a few D&B bags but I haven't rehabbed them yet. If you post pics for authentication in the D&B forum, BeenBurned will check them out and tell you more info about them.

Where is the Dooney forum?? I just looked and couldn't find it!! And I found the same bags on e-bay, the details are pretty phenomenal on these bags, but I will post them for Beenburned just to be sure I got real ones!

And in a whole year of going there I have previously found one Brighton purse, and one fabric purse by some designer my sister likes... I gave it to her as a christmas gift and she loves it and carries it daily... figures I can't remember the name. Anyway, to find this many all in one day, is just almost too much for my poor brain to handle!!
