Coach Factory Online Sale Discussion Thread

I am worried that any style of Rogue that has thousands in inventory is a Factory remake, or a 4th generation rerun with lower quality materials.

That’s true, I hadn’t thought of that, although I always kind of thought the Zoe bag looked like it was meant to be the factory version of the Rogue. I noticed primarily the pastel colors had the high inventory numbers, so they very well could be producing MFO Rogues for Spring 2020. I hope not though.

It only took me three years to decide to get one, but I’ve been so impressed with the quality and extra little details in the Rogues (and the 1941 bags in general). I’m sure it’s already been debated endlessly here, but I think Coach was really on to something with this line. If they would maintain the initial quality 1941 bags debuted with, and especially if they would commit to only producing those bags in the U.S., I think they could have made the case to truly be considered a premium designer. Of course that would mean producing less bags at a substantially higher price, but it would be something I’d be interested in. Coach currently has me trained to wait for the sale price, but nothing generates a buying frenzy like something that is truly limited edition.

I wouldn’t mind at all if Coach completely eliminated the MFO line. I Know it’s super-snotty of me, but I can’t help but notice the large amount of ugly, beat-up, MFO bags that are carried in my area, and feel a little cheaper by association.

If you search the forum you will see a LOT of debate on this topic over the years. :D I agree with you. Coach had something great with the original Rogue and over the last 4 years they have proceeded to sabotage their business plan of creating a classic Premier bag. You are in good company @SunnydaleFarms :) We all are trained to wait until bags go to CoachOutlet now.

Maybe this year will see a new strategy. I say this every year lol :D

This sounds like a great theory to me. Solved!

haha This made me think of the old show unsolved mysteries lol

And if I remember correctly the “MFF” shoulder Rogues and the rogue 16s were only one run. They didn’t come back with more or another round of colors. I kinda wish I grabbed one of the 16s but I thought they’d do more colors. Once they sold that was it which makes me think they were truly just left overs from retail.

LOL I think for a long time you could really only get 30% and maybe 40% off of retail items through the boutiques. But now with SAS and extra 20% and sometimes cash back sites having 12-15% you can get as good or almost as good deals through the boutique.

I’m thankful because I’m locked out of FOS currently. Who knows why because I’m a loyal customer who purchased a lot through FOS.

I watched a video on YouTube today about the current SAS and the shopper said that this sale is a permanent sale? She seemed to think they wouldn’t be sending the items over to outlets that quickly and intended to just keep them at sale prices until they sold out. I don’t know if that’s true but would be interesting!
Heard the same thing from a cs rep regarding keeping the permanent SAS sale price until they run out - We will see right ....

It isn't retail. That's what she's trying to tell you. It is a retail style, made with exact quality materials as the retail bag but it is still MFF.
I agree. :) Also as the quality of the later Rogues went down, we could even say that the MFF rogues weren't the exact quality materials as the retail version. My guess is that the whole last major run of Rogues (3rd generation) was Coach being confused as to whether or not they wanted to kill off the Rogue and make it an MFF style or not. Since the Rogue was supposed to be Coach's "Classic Premier" style that would not be discounted, sent to the outlets, or discontinued, my guess is that there were differing opinions at Coach as to when and how to pull the plug on the Rogue.

But that is just a guess of course.

My black drifter looks identical to the retail drifter but that doesn't make it retail. It has an F creed and was made to be sold through the outlets. If I ever decide to sell it, I can't try to pass it off as a retail bag.
I agree. If a seller sold me a Coach bag with an F creed and claimed it was a retail bag, I would file a Item not as described claim immediately. :)

Not when it comes to retail

Regardless if the style originally was sold at retail as long as the inside creed, the one attached in the bag with the “this is a Coach bag....” has an F on it, the bag is an MFF. This is different from the retail bags (deletes/reserve) with no F in the creed but sold in the outlet store with a price tag that does have a F on the price tag only. Coach retail would not recognize a bag as retail with the F creed, they would say it’s an MFF because of the F creed. I believe they have done this with some Dinky bags and Drifters sold at the outlets.

It may not make a difference for some but for those that resell their bags, sometimes that F creed does further devalue a bag because it’s considered a MFF bag.

My Cooper is this way- I bought it online from the outlet and assumed it was a delete, but it actually has an F creed. As far as I can tell it’s identical to the retail bag, but I was more than a little peeved. I kept it anyways though, since that color wasn’t being sold on the retail site at that time, and I assumed it was no longer available. I really felt like a dope when my exact bag showed up again on the retail site a month later for the exact same price as the outlet. :annoyed:

It’s one thing to make a MFF style of a bag at a cheaper price with less features (I’m thinking Rhyders vs. Mickies), but the bait and switch of selling identical bags with F creeds is just shady and does nothing elevate the brand as far as I’m concerned.

It's even worse when 1941 bags such as the Rogue, whose whole market positioning was supposed to be premier, are reproduced in mass quantities for the outlets.

By making the Rogue for the outlets, Coach did 180 degree turn on it's branding for the bag. This affected the bag's resale value and also made it difficult for Coach's new department store resellers such as Saks and Neiman Marcus, to sell the bags at a profit. If I were a Neiman Marcus or Saks purchasing executive, I would be very upset at Coach for providing me a bait and switch in terms of marketing, branding, and pricing for the Rogue and other 1941 styles.
