Can the owners of the lambskin Lady Dior give me some insights as to how you guys protect the handles from being scratched (by jewellery or fingernails)? I've notice a small scratch in 1 of the handles (the inner, flat part of the handle facing inward). I don't like the look of scratches :( will the mark go away with buffing?

Also, do you apply leather conditioner (Cadillac for instance) to the LD? If not, how do you clean it, since it didn't come with a buffing glove like Chanel bags do for me.

Any extra tips in caring/maintaining the lambskin will also be much appreciated!

You can take the bag to Dior and see if they can buff out the scratch or replace the scratched handle for you.

Generally, the leather does not need a conditioner as that can change the way the leather looks. As well, while the care booklet recommends buffing in light circles around a scratch, doing it too hard (even with a glove) may actually lighten the area that you are rubbing as it can take the colour off the rubbed area. You can try to use a soft microfibre cloth (liek the type that comes with eyeglasses and sunglasses) or gently rub the affected area, but don't do it too much or you can lighten the area you rub.

With lambskin, you have to be careful to not get your nails in contact with the leather, but accidents do happen, so Dior has good aftersales service for you if you need to remove a scratch.

thanks for the advice @averagejoe !! There isn't a boutique in my city and i don't really want to courier the whole bag to another city now..guess when I go on a business trip there i'll check :)

Thanks also on the leather conditioner! There are mixed reviews on how to care/clean lambskin so I just want to trust the manual in the carebook.

Hello,
I have just purchased Dior Granville grained leather white bag. It has some damages so can you please help me with any advice on how could I fix it by myself or cobbler?
Any advice is much appreciated.

A cobbler can fix that. They can buff out scratches and redye the leather with white leather spray paint. However, the leather's texture may feel different after re-dying as it will feel more "rough".

If you do not have proof of purchase, then you can take it to a leather repair specialist (like a cobbler) and they can redye it for you. Redying may change the look and feel of the lambskin a bit, but it will look look once it has been redyed.

Hello I'd like to hear about your experiences in caring for light coloured calf skin!
Do you all condition your bags with leather creams? I understand that it's not advised to pre-treat light coloured leather with water repellant spear, but would love to know if anyone's given it a shot and how the results were. Thanks !

I don't treat light-coloured bags in case the product darkens the leather, especially if the leather is smooth.

Hi,
I have a vintage tan lady dior, with an authenticity card. I've read this thread and a lot of the advice is to take it to a dior boutique for cleaning/other services. Does anyone have experience or advice on taking a vintage piece for cleaning

Hi Average Joe, what are your thoughts on a 1997 Vintage Nylon Cannage Medium Lady Dior (black/gold hardware)? I have an opportunity to purchase pre loved but I would like to have the bag professionally cleaned and repaired. Should I contact my local boutique for assistance? I know Dior has moved away from cleaning leather but what about Nylon? There is no authenticity card and the Dior Dallas location is closest to me.

It depends on the condition of the bag. If the material looks heavily soiled, or rubbed/lightened in some areas, then nothing can clean that off.

I would contact the Dior boutique first before buying, but for a piece that old, they probably won't do anything for it.

You can also show pictures of the bag to your local dry-cleaner to see if they can clean the material. Some dry cleaners won't touch designer bags in case they ruin them.
