Cleaning, Care and Repair of Your Dior

I have a Lady Dior calf skin bag and matching purse that I purchased in 2008. The bag is looking a bit squashed and tired and a piece of the metal hardware that attaches the strap to the bag has become loose and keeps popping out causing the bag to drop to the floor. Do Dior offer a service where they can give your bag a bit of a makeover and freshen it up a bit? If so, what is the ballpark figure to have it done? There's no damage on the bag as such, it's just a big dull and saggy. Also, do you think they'd repair the handle free of charge? I've attached so photos so you can see what I'm talking about. I'd be grateful for any advice. Thank you.View attachment 3393549 View attachment 3393548

They will repair for a fee most likely, because the bag is older and there are signs of wear and tear.

They can replace the hardware for you. As for the structure of the bag, I'm not sure if they can straighten the bag for you but this is something you can do yourself. Get a purse organizer that fits exactly across the entire width and length of the bag inside. It will cause the dented sides to straighten out a bit. You can also put cardboard inside the bag to keep the shape upright.

As well, place tissue paper inside the bag to stuff it back up (don't over stuff it or the leather will soften even more) when the bag is in storage.

Hi all!
I'm new to the forum and a novice to designer brands, so I've come for a bit of advice .
I just bought my first Dior, a black patent Diorama croisiere wallet on chain. It was the last one, and I forgot to check it for any scratches before leaving the shop. When I opened it at home, it already had a small indent (where you close the wallet).
Is this normal? Can it be fixed? Or am I just being pedantic... Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you!

The dent looks like someone tried to push the snap button down on the wrong part in the boutique, and it looks like it was pushed down hard or stored like that.

It may lighten over time as long as the same stress is not subjected to it again, but it cannot be fixed. That being said, it's very minor and no one can see it when the flap is closed. Since it is the last one, then you should decide whether it's minor enough to keep it, or return it and wait for another one to come in stock (or pick a different available colour).

Thanks so much for your help!! I really appreciate it!
I guess I'll see what they can do at the boutique.. I should've checked it before I bought it, but I got so flustered. Lesson learnt.

Hey everyone

I am thinking of buying a lady Dior bag large calfskin and was wondering if there is anything other than tissue paper to put in the bag in order to keep its shape whilst in storage? ( Like a shoe tree but for bag)

Tissue paper stuffing that comes with the bag should be sufficient as long as you don't put heavy bags or items on top of it and squash it in between other things. I store my bag in its original gift box with the tissue paper stuffing inside

Just called the UK Dior helpline to ask what is recommended for moisturising and cleaning lambskin and calfskin. They said they use a product called TRG The One Mink Oil. It comes in a silver tin with a picture of boots on the front. I have ordered some from eBay and will give it a go!

The previous post with the photos is supposed to go with my post below. Getting the hang of this!

Hello, I'm a new member to PF and this is my first post. I bought a Lady Dior cannage tote from a consignment shop. The tote itself is in good shape but the handles have some wear on them, I've attached photos. Also the DIOR letters seem to be out of order, the D is last and backwards. I contacted Dior and they said since I bought it second hand and can't provide the name of the original buyer and boutique, they cannot look at it or fix it. I reached out to Roca Brothers and sent them these same photos and they said they happen to have the same handles in stock and can switch them out. I'd have to send the bag in since I don't live anywhere near their location. What are the chances they actually have these authentic Dior handles in stock? Oh, and I was told by another leather specialist that Dior parts cannot be ordered so I'm a little skeptical. Any insight the Purseforum community may have is greatly appreciated.

You can bring this bag to a cobbler and they can buff and reseal the edges of the handles. The edges may look glossier after the resealing.

As for the charms, probably only Dior can fix them. You can try to reorder them yourself but there is a chance you may damage the metal rings/charms in the process.

That's a really good idea, to take the bag to a cobbler to buff and reseal the edges of the handles! I know a reputable cobbler near me so I'll definitely try that. As for the charms, I'll see if they can also move the D over and turn it the right way. Thank you so much!

Hello, I would like to get a light color diorama in calfskin. (beige/cream or light pink) Are there any products (sprays, etc.) that I can use to protect it from minor water or stain damage? Many thanks!

I don't recommend applying any product on leather as it may darken the colour.

But if you really want to, then a standard water-repellent spray should work. Be sure to test it on an inconspicuous spot on the bag first to see if it will alter the colour.
