Hello, all. I hope you can help me with my "cleaning" issue. I just received my first ever Dior bag. It's the small saddle bag in textile and pre-loved of course from Vestiaire Collective. It was signed as "Good Condition" which as per their own website means the following "A second-hand bag is in good condition if it has been used and looked after, with light signs of use."
Unfortunately it does have a brown stain of some sort. I'm not sure if it's mud, make up or something else. The center part of it is also quite yellow instead of the dark white on the product images.
My question here is - How can I safely attempt to clean it at home. Something simple perhaps like warm water and soap? I am afraid to bring it into Dry Cleaning places, they only do clothes and know nothing about designer handbags. I am scared to try ( yet if nothing happens I probably will take it there).
I also don't want to stain the bag while washing it since it does have colorful patterns.
One last thing. Do you think that really counts as good condition? I feel like they missed that part because the pattern is colorful. Still no excuse though.
Please help.

You can try to clean it with a damp neutral-colour cloth (not soaking wet, because too much water can potentially spread this stain). Gently wipe the stain. Don't rub too hard or you can nap the canvas of the bag.

The pattern of the bag does make the stain look like a part of the design, at least in the pictures. I don't know if they genuinely missed this stain thinking it was part of the design, but if it looks obvious in real life, then they should have disclosed this in their listing.

If you really like the bag and the price, then keep it. Try cleaning as suggested.

Yes, I definitely want to keep it. It's adorable and good condition in any other aspect. Plus this print is nowhere to be found now. I will report on my cleaning attempts :) Hopefully my experimentation will be successful and possibly help someone else as well.

Ok, this is the best I could do :( Can't fully remove it though. Tried mostly with a little soap and damp microfiber cloth. At least it's not as bad but I'm still not happy with it fully. I'll try to enjoy the bag though and be happy that it has such a colorful print that you can hardly see the issue unless I point it out. Let me know what you think and also share if you have a magical tip for me.PhotoGrid_1521481188314.jpg

It looks better! With the print, it is really hard to tell that it's actually a stain of some sort.

Hello  Bringing this back because i need some advice...
Recently I've gone on an impulsive binge of vintage Dior. For some reason I buy new bags of every designer brand but but vintage Dior is my current OBSESSION...
i got a lot of new trotter and saddle pieces but this forum makes me crave a LD a lot. i found the best of both worlds i think last night and this vintage Denim LD with clear handles has caught my eye.
its HEAVILY oxidized but its a realllllly good deal.
i found a lot of tutorials on denim Redyeing some with actual Indigo and I'm a big DIYer already. the process would involve removing the hardware tho... for better results i need to bathe the lady and THROUGHLY rinse her after so to avoid transfer (Id call it "opposite transfer" since usually its the bag were worried about staining lol) Theres also some good quality scellants on the market.... is that doable???

It is doable, but the grommets at the base of the handles are snap-fit, but are very hard to press together with the fingers. With pliers, be sure to protect the hardware with something smooth and soft (which won't press into the metal and dent/scratch it).

Im mainly worried about the interior structure of it if it gets submerged....There are dyes that can be applied with a brush but i am really hoping for an even result.
i don't really know how its constructed yet. i think the handles and charms might be the only things i need to remove tho as the dye won't affect the grommets specially if i protect them but now that i know this information i think it would be better to remove them to insure a more even color all around....
Im definitely going to test out a method on some test samples and thrifted bags first.
I srsly thought i would have everyone banging their heads on a wall when i suggested this...
Im thinking 400$ might still be an expensive risk but I'm really tempted...
thanks!

Maybe it's not worth the risk. If you damage the bag or the results are uneven, that's $400 down the drain, and the bag would be hard to sell off after.

I recently purchased the Mini Lady Dior with Rhinestones in Black Satin in the UK. When I checked the bag originally, the exterior looked pristine and I had it put on hold during my trip. When I retrieved it from the store during the end of my UK stay, I noticed a very small white mark in the center front square, but I was so excited for this piece I thought I could take care of it myself. When I got back to the hotel, I took a clean cloth and gently wiped; however, it could not be removed. As I was traveling to Paris, I took the bag to the Dior Rue Royale store and when they tried to clean it, it spread and could not be removed. Apparently there was some cream that rubbed on during the handling at the UK store. The entire top center square is now a tint of white and I’m absolutely devastated. Please let me know if you have any advice on how to handle satin! Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I suggest you bring the bag back to Dior and demand a new one. The Paris store made it worse so they should take responsibility for this.

Hi Dior expert,

I have a problem. I have a Brown Diorissimo Hobo. The bag is in great shape except for the leather bands surrounding the strap. One is terribly discolored and the other is missing. Any suggestions?

You can either remove the discoloured one so it matches the missing one on the other side, or you can redye this one and have a cobbler construct one for you for the other side. It may not look identical but it can look so close that it is hard to tell.

Thank you. 'averagejoe'!! Will it take away from the value of the bag if I switch out the discoloured one and make two new ones? I may be listing this bag and others for sale to save up for a vintage Lady Dior medium.
