Hi i have been left a pistachio green Roxanne from deceased relative. Its lovely but has some water marks underneath and the leather is discoloured. In some areas its light others darker in shade. It has no dust bag so i have one on order. It was used well so i need to stuff it to get its shape. Any advice re cleaning and care much appreciated. Never had a bag like this and memories mean a lot too. Thanks. J x

Hi J and welcome! Depending on the type of leather your Roxanne was made from, you will have different options for cleaning and caring for her. It sounds like might possibly be Apple Green, from your description but could be another leather, so would be great if you could post a photo and then we would have an idea what best to do, if that makes sense? Also, certain colours more prone to fading, green being one of those, unfortunately. But Roxannes are wonderful, faded or not, and you will find lots of information (and photos) on here about the style and the different options for cleaning and caring for her. A lovely bequest :flowers:

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any good tips/cleaning product recommendations for cleaning stains on the inside of a Mulberry bag. The leather is much more pours on the inside, so I want to avoid causing any damage.

I've seen nubuck erasers being mentioned, but does anyone know of any good sprays or shampoo's that will lift the stain?

Thanks!

As tshields 2590 I am too wondering if there are any ways of cleaning The inside of a mulberry lily. I don’t want to damage the suede but need to get rid of make up stains from the lining. Thanks in advance

Just thought I'd share this today as it's a bit of a revelation for me - so for all you NVT lovers out there, this could be the cleaner for you! I'm cleaning down my latest ebay find - Bayswater - stains all over it. I used Angelus Easy cleaner - there are 8 pics attached to look at - the first 4 are before cleaning and the last 4 are after cleaning (although still drying). I've enclosed a pic of the cleaner which I got from Amazon (as basically I own all the other cleaners and none of them really work).

My advice is as follows; do it a panel at a time - work on each side of the bag individually ensuring it is fully dry before moving to the next i.e. front first, let it dry then move to the back. I used a micro-fibre white cloth and used a clean piece on each panel. Don't over wet the leather (it says this on the cleaner) put a small amount of cleaner on the cloth and clean a small section of the panel, using gentle circular movements - do not press hard on the leather. Move on quickly to the next section to clean in that panel. That's it! You will see the results in about 20 mins!

I think you might have just saved my Bayswater from an eBay listing! Thank you!

You are very welcome xjenniferclaire - let me know if you need any help or get stuck when doing it - don't worry - the bag will go dark when you do it - just have faith it will come good - also, I said I was quite gentle, but on doing the rest of the bag, I was actually quite robust with the cleaning - just quick on each section (don't overwork it if that makes sense) x Good luck and do come back and post pics xx

Hi guys,

I thought I would share a recent project I was working on in case it might be helpful to someone!

I’d been lusting after a black Dome Rivet French purse Forum the longest time due to its 2 in 1 coin purse and card holder but could never seem to find it in black. Eventually I caved and purchased one in deer brown and due to the large mark across the front I feel I got a really good deal on it.

I started with the best of intentions on keeping it the same colour but trying to get the mark out and I tried everthinggggg, from shoe cream in naturell and all other leather cleaners I was aware of (though the one above I wasn’t so I’ll definitely be giving that a try next time) to the depths of google and home remedies (baaaaaad idea haha!) but it would not budge.

This is when I decided on drastic measures, if I couldn’t get the stain out of a Deer Brown purse, I would try and get the Black one I had initially lusted after! I settled on the TRG Easy Dye in black and followed the instructions switching between the included sponge and a small make up brush for hard to reach areas. After leaving it to dry completely for three days I popped a little collinil gel and some Scotchguard waterproofing spray on it and this is the finished result!

It’s in no way perfect but I’m pleased with the result and feel like I’ll actually get some use out of it now. I choose not to dye the fabric on the zip of the coin purse just as I imagined I’d make a complete mess of it, but I’m okay with the way it looks now.

I will place a slight warning here though, the dye definitely changed the texture of the leather and will need a little bit of a touch up so I’m not sure if this is a good idea for your most loved pieces but definitely worth a try if you’re at the end of the road!

I definitely will, I actually just posted about a recent project I had been working on and what I would’ve given to have your advice then! Haha xx

Can anyone help me with the interior of this bayswater - where now the outside is very pretty and clean - the inside is a disaster area :panic:

It's very grubby - like grey with dirt - there's some ink, but I'm not brave enough to have a go at that at the moment

Just getting the majority cleaned up so it doesn't look grey will do for now x

Love the dye project you've done - it looks fabulous!!

Thank you :amuse:, I think it at least looks a little better than the stain!

On the inside of your Bayswater, I don’t know if this helps but I started by dry brushing the whole inside of the bag with a suede brush and made sure to give it a good empty before I put a little of the Collinil cleaning foam onto the bush and worked it in in small areas before letting it dry and then brushing in different directions to bring back the “fuzzy feel”? I’m now pleased with how the inside looks but the outside is quite sad, your cleaner is currently in my Amazon basket haha! Xx

I forgot to say that ink - believe me I have tried and failed many times. This is the lady to send your ink/biro pen marks to Clare at The Handbag Restoration Company - she's on Facebook - take a look at her AMAZING before and after pics xxx she's got 2 of mine at the moment for ink - soon to be getting another one as well
