I am afraid it is out of warranty but thank you for the reply.

Has anybody had this fixed / could recommend a company? I know there are a few eg handbag spa however I wondered whether anybody has any first hand knowledge of them? Or could advise whether the colour of the leather changes etc?

Hi everyone. I've recently rediscovered Mulberry purse and would like tips on what to clean it up with so I can use it again? I used it so much in the past but it's been sat in a box in the loft for years until I moved recently. The zip is pretty sticky and the only thing I can think to use is wd40 I'm amazed that it still has a gorgeous leather smell and don't want to use something that will take that away.
I would send it off to Mulberry but they don't do cleaning. Any advise?20190101_174758.jpg 20190101_174850.jpg 20190101_174818.jpg

Hello, I've just got a pre-loved Alexa in pheasant green shrunken calf and it has a few scuffs at the corners. I've treated scuff on other bags with coloured collonil shoe cream but I'm just not sure what colour is the best match, has anyone got any guidance? Also, I noticed Famaco shoe creams seem to have a wider range of greens but never used this brand, do any if you have any experience of them?

I've used The Handbag Restoration Company for cleaning and colour restore on a bag and was very happy with the result https://thehandbagrestorationcompany.co.uk/

It has been so long since I posted in this forum I forgot there was a cleaning thread. Oops! I saw an old post of someone washing a hand painted Bays in the sink and wondered if anyone else had done this and how the paint held up? No idea what the leather is, looks oak colored.

Asking before I buy a painted bag in need of TLC and wreck it further or find it can’t be freshened up.

Hi!
I washed my Oak 'Kew' hand painted bayswater. The paint held up relatively well, although where the paint was already cracked, a very minuscule amount flaked off - though this is barely visible to the eye. I will see if i can find a photo of my bayswater after I washed it.

The piping on my 8ish year old oak Bays has split at the front near the bottom corner, there’s a split about 3/4 inch long, the white piping is just exposed (not hanging out) and if I pull the split bits together it fits back neatly IYSWIM. I’m thinking of just gluing it then buffing collonil & colour over the mend, but can't think how to hold the two sides together while the glue sets. Does anyone have any better ideas?

While debating on the Roxanne kew, I found a Rosemary in chocolate Darwin who is a much better size for me. The leather feels grimy but I can’t say if it’s grimes or it’s in my head because it is preloved. Assuming it’s the bag and not me, any tips on cleaning her? I am thinking damp cloth or Lexol wipes

Hello!
I've been reading through this whole archive for tips on how to best refurbish my new-to-me Oak Darwin Roxanne. This thread has been great!
I wanted to post some before and after pictures - partly because it might be useful for someone else, but also because I'm so pleased with it and want to share (my DH was nice about it, but he didn't fully appreciate the beauty of Darwin leather!)
These are the 'before' images:

A few water stains, some 'sticky inking' issues and crushed from storage. The front left pocket was completely stuck to the edge of the bag!
Here are my 'after' photos:

Ta-dah!! The patina on the leather was already great. I used some leather cream (just from Clarks because I had some in the house already) and rubbed all over. I didn't have any luck removing the sticky inking - there are little bits of rubber stuck all over the bag, especially on the handles. I tested using nail polish remover on a cotton bud, but it wasn't working for me. If anything, it seemed to get worse - it spread the stain around and made the whole area dark!
Rolling the leather REALLY works - I was amazed! There were a few dark water stains and who knows how long they've been there for. Once you start bending and rolling the leather, you can see the stain lighten straight away! It felt like one of those 'miracle' cleaning product ads! I was tempted to spill some more water on it, just for the joy of watching it disappear!
Sprayed the whole thing lightly with Collonil waterstop and then polished again.
I padded the bag out with paper, especially the pockets, while I was polishing. I worked the leather with my hands to put it back into shape. My plan is to keep it padded out for a couple of weeks.
It took me a few hours, but it was a few hours of getting to hold a beautifully-made bag and making it my own. It really shows the quality of a bag when you can put it through this much and it still comes out looking great!

It looks great! You’ve done a fantastic job there.

Well done. Looks great especially compared to the "before" photos.

So glad to hear you enjoyed the journey along the way to the destination of restoring this bag. Happy travels.
Thank you! It was really enjoyable, once I had an idea of what to do. I considered giving it a bath, but couldn't get the courage to do it! I liked the colour it was, so I didn't want to risk it and there was no issue with damp or musty smell from storage.
Looking forward to taking it out soon!

Hi everyone.

I have signed up for this to see if anyone can help me. I bought my wife a pre loved Bayswater heritage in NVT leather. Upon closer inspection I noticed a very faint mark on the front of it. I want some advice on how I can remove the mark and return it to its immaculate condition.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I just want to get this perfect for my wife!

Thanks
