I realise this is quite a while ago and don't know if you've sorted this bag? Is it a white patent?
I know this sounds really strange but hairspray on white patent leather works a treat, it just seems to lift the mark out. Word of warning though - use only on patent leather, it worked so well on a white patent bag of my daughters that I got carried away and tried it on a leather mulberry :nono: I actually cried.....
It is white patent! Thank you so much for the advice! I'm going to give it a try tonight. Just hairspray and wipe with a damp cloth?

Because I was a bit wary at first I put hairspray on a cotton bud and then gently rubbed at a small area, as I got a bit more cocky I started spraying hairspray directly on the bag. Be careful with the rubbing though as if you are too vigorous you kind of mark the leather. I would go easy at first like I did on a not so conspicuous place. The leather does feel sticky afterwards but as you say a wipe with a damp cloth and it is fine.

Let me know how you get on!

My mini black Taylor is looking a bit dry. I've used the collonil leather gel on it, bit its still dull looking and actually feels dry.

I think I may have overdone the water-stop spray

Should I also try the collonil gel? I didn't realise there were two kinds until recently

I didn't realise either - I've only used the leather gel... would be interested to hear of any experience of the other one...

Hello all! I own both gels...

I bought the classic gel for my Bayswater, as I understand it, it's cleaning as well as nourishing. So far, I have only sprayed the bag. I will use the gel, when I feel it needs it or when there might be a stain (hopefully not!).

At my parents' place, I have stored another spray and the leather gel. I bought it because I wanted to impregnate a new Tod's bag there - couldn't wait to use it! The classic gel wasn't available then. I think on the Tod's I only used the leather gel and did not spray - didn't want to overdo it. Or did I spray, too? Can't remember... And I have used the leather gel to nourish my tortue embossed Longchamp which worked well (the bag didn't need waterproofing but seemed a bit dry).

So: I think the classic gel is fine to clean and nourish but you should use the spray to waterproof. The leather gel is useful to waterproof and nourishes a bit. Anyway, I try not to use these bags on rainy days! But in daily situations like handwashing I can easily wipe away the drops which might have gotten onto the bag.

Hope my experience helps!

Thanks that does help, will have another go tonight. She does look a bit better but not as good as when the SA in mulberry Westfield did it.

I need to get some Collonill spray but none of the shops on the island stock Collonill. I could order it over the internet but I think there will be a issue with the postage. Are there any other brands that would be suitable? We have Woly products and a Jones the Bootmaker store.

Hi all sorry to bump this post, but has anyone used any other waterproofing products? I would love to use my creamy pink Alexa but not until I have treated it :) TIA

I've been looking for the Collonil gel but can't find any, only the Collonil Leather Gel which I already have. Does anyone know where it's sold please? Thank you.

A newbie here have just bought an alexa in soft calf fur print, was just wondering the best way to look after this leather... Think it is like the oak Taylor in oak from what I have worked out.

Thanks in advance

Hi Mammee, I've also got the alexa soft calf fur print. I've given her 3 good sprays with the collonil waterstop and she is doing great, no rain spots or denim transfer yet. The spray hasn't affected her or altered her colour in any way.

Based on the advice here, I'm also planning to buy collonil gel to protect & nourish her as I can see my leather staring to crease already so the more supple I can get her the better.

Hope this helps
