Hi all I know this would have been asked before but I going to ask again.....
I have sprayed all my bags with the water-spray when I first get them. I also brought the gel from the mulberry website.

However I have no idea when I should start to use the gel??? How offend should I do it and when do you know it's the right time. I've had my delrey since the beginning of jan so nearly 6 months. Should I be using the gel now?? Also should you use if more offend on light colours?. What the best way , is it to use a cloth with the gel on??

Thanks for helping :smile1:

I spray it very gently with the water-spray depending on how often I use it. Sometimes it's good to spray it weekly (but not drown it in water - keep it 30 cm away from the bag and spray around). Depending on how often I use it, it's also worth spraying it before every time you take it out.

Remember, the spray is NOT meant to make the bag wet - if its wet, then you are not spraying it correctly.

What Mulberry told me once I had a scratch, I dropped them an email, made me feel much better and here I am sharing:

(I have an oak bayswater)

You can help to blend and mellow any marking on the leather by working the outside with your hands, as the natural oils in them will soften any contrast that is always more noticeable at the beginning of the life of an item.

You can also work the leather from the inside by pushing it outwards with

the back of a spoon, which will also usually make quite a difference.

You will likely find that the whole item will darken down by at least a couple of shades with use and with consistent application of the Waterstop spray which will also help to make any marks less noticeable.

Our hides are not heavily tanned or coated and marking is to be expected.

Stains, marks, scuffs and scrapes will always look more prominent when the item is new but over time this adds to the character of the leather and makes each of our products unique. Mulberry see this as part of the charm of their products.

Thank you for that!!! I think for me it's actually accepting that my bags are going to age with time esp as they are in a very very new state!

I get what you mean, but I think there is something beautiful about an aged bag! It looks like it's lived and been used. Just like I always love when bags lose their shape with age and the leather 'flops' a bit. It's gorgeous! (Maybe it's just me?!) x

In theory, I share your opinion! But let's wait and see how my bags age. No scratches so far!

Hello

I am a Mulberry newbie and recently purchased a baby Ledbury Bayswater in Oak only second hand as cant afford new at the moment! I wasn't sure whether to use the spray protector or the cream for protection? am scared to use it in the rain and of course it has been raining everyday!:graucho: I would appreciate any advice;)

Thanks

Here are some tips from my SA:

1. Use Collonil spray about every two months. Apply more often if you use the bag more.

2. Gel is not necessary for regular care, unlike the spray. Use gel when you find the corner of the bag is a little dry or worn.

There is one more tip from me. Use baby wipes to clean color transfer. Works like a charm.

Hello ladies,

I recently got the dorset boots as a gift and I love them to death - before I used them for the first time I treated them with the collonil gel. After a few days of wear I also bought the spray for protection. Now my question is do you think that it is enough to spray them every other week? I wear them almost daily as I absolutely love them - but as it get's warmer I'm gonna store them away soon in the dustbag. I just don't know if I should put a shoetree inside because I notice that the leather gets some wrinkles at the front of the shoe, right above my toes. If anyone could help my I'd be very grateful! I want them to last as long as possible.

Using a shoe tree will help keep the shape of the boots so it is beneficial and you will be happy you did. I bought a beautiful pair of Burberry boots this past winter and didn't store them in a box plus I was a shoe tree short. Going through my closet the other day, I found the Burberry soft leather boots and they weren't in great shape considering they were last worn and cleaned in March. I did buy shoe trees for them and I hope it isn't too late. All my other boots had shoe trees and they were fine. Won't happen again.
