Of interest I have a small postman lock purse in choc & oak. I have had it a long time but only started using it last month. To my disappointment the beige stitching started unravelling on one side. I rang the repair team at Shepton M. and they said they don't have the tools to repair it. I was told to send it back and it would be replaced but they don't make the style anymore. I was advised to take it to a shoe repair but I was scared they might ruin it ( i am precious with my mulberry bags a d purses) so I had a go at stitching it myself. It looks absolutely fab and you would have to look very closely to see the repair. Prob saved a bit of money too - just shows never dispair most things can be fixed. X

Many thanks Mayfly285. Advice is much appreciated! :smile1:

A lot of leathers have naturally occurring marks and folds that were in the hide of the animal before it got to the bag-making stage! This looks rather like one of those. Or it could be a fold in the leather from the early tanning/drying stage. It might drop/fade over time but sometimes the marks really are just unique to the hide and are a permanent feature. This is what sets real leather apart from uniform, "perfect" (ie fake leather!) bags!! Enjoy your unique bag!! :D

Hi ladies- anyone have advice on how to prevent finger and hand marks on black patent leather? I have a beautiful continental purse but its looks are spoilt when its handled. Is there any magic cream or spray that prevents the smudges?
Many thanks

Hello,
Any particular tips on getting colour transfer off a peony pink plonge leather bag other than the various Collonil products? It really needs an overall clean too.

(I did search for plonge leather but could only find one mention which was a warning to be careful of dye transfer :hrmm: )
Thank you

Really scared of using me first mulberry alexa oak. The base seems really vulnerable does anyone ever put them down when out and about or hold them all the time? Have my eye on a mini alexa but think it will be black!!:smile1:

New to the site and loving this thread!! I'm putting together a little emergency kit now thanks to all the tips on here! Also is it possible to have the plate replaced on the East West hobo? It hits the floor before I've even realised! I could cry every time.

I bought recently a pre loved oak darwin Rosemary. Instantly i wanted to use the gel - didnt really need it but its like a welcoming jesture to the new bag into your home.......anyways i was a bit scared when the gel looked like it was going to leave a stain on the leather. Needles to say it eventually soaked in or dried but it has made me scared of doing it all over. Should i be brave, and what do you do to yours ?

Does anyone know how I am meant to treat my mulberry leather bag (in Oak). I have so far avoided taking it out into the rain but is there any way to protect it from water stains?:sweatdrop:

Should I just spray it with the usual leather protector?:shrugs:

All advice appreciated,

Ta!
I agree with what some have said, use collonil. I used it on my Bayswater and it works at protecting the bag from water stains. Good luck.
