Do you just give it a light sparaying all over? Never used a protector before very new to this :smile1:

The first time I sprayed a bag, the spray barely touched it! I had visions of spraying great big watermarks into the leather......

It was fine, of course, but I'm still more careful with some bags than others.

If you're going to spray then start light and build up gradually:smile1:

Someone has the pink Bays of my dreams on Fleabay but the bag has a mark on the bottom. It looks like some kind of ink. I don't mind a mark you can't see but how much I'm gonna bid for this bag is dependent on if there is any chance of having it removed. Anybody know? Thanks.

Hi Txchick,

Spongy patent leather has a coating to the surface making it layered in crossection. My experience with bags made is this leather is that if crushed it develops a "bruise" within the layers, which obviously cannot be wiped off, as it is not on the surface.

For example, a Neely had been stored in a drawer with the strap folded on top, but the buckle had managed to press against the leather leaving a residual "bruise".

It would be worth contacting Shepton Mallet repairs to ask their advice. They may be able to replace the panel in the bag if they still have the same leather available. :smile1:

Mulberry recommend Collonil. You can use a different, less expensive one, but Collonil works well and as it's recommended by Mulberry, if it were to cause any damage to your bag, as long as you have followed the instructions, they would have to make good the damage. If you did the same with a non-recommended product, they would have no liability.....:smile1:
