Hello all the lovely TPFers!

So I received my Oak Daria Slim Zip Wallet today, she's such a beauty, I'm so excited and can't wait to start using her! I see that Collonil is the only recommended product by Mulberry to treat its bags. I'm the type that uses the same wallet for years and would love to keep my new Oak Daria Slim Zip looking as beautiful as she is now for as long as possible. Has anyone tried treating their wallets? How did it turn out?

Hi, I've got a choc long locked purse - I found it was looking a bit dry and scratched after a couple of months so treated it with collonil premium gold cream and it looked wonderful afterwards - it blended the scratches, darkened it a tiny weeny bit (in a good way) and brought the glossiness out. Plus it's now waterproof.

It's the best collonil product I've used and it also worked a treat on my oak Zinia and choc pvt bays. Makes the leather look so nourished.

hello,
i'm completely new to leather care in general. i've read through the majority of this thread, but i wanted to be completely sure before i tried applying sprays and gels to my new bag. from what i gather i should be spraying with a few light sprays of waterstop first, and then applying the gel afterwards?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to deal with the scuffed corners on my oak NVT bayswater please? It's a year old and has been sprayed with Collinil waterstop spray a good few times.
Mulberry recommended I use the Collinil cream on any dry areas but I've also read on here about Clarks(?) and Woly cream in cognac for oak corners....
Which is best? How do I apply it? And in which order with spraying?

Also, can anyone recommend a good product to protect my handles from darkening? I remember reading on here once about a product just for handles but can't remember what it is!

Thanks very much in advance!

I haven’t tried it on Oak but I have used the Woly cream on several bags and have a few jars in various colours and would highly recommend it. They are readily available on Ebay. It’s easy to get a good match as there are so many colours; they bring your bag up very well. Just apply with a colourless sponge or cloth and buff when dry...................but always best to try these things on a small hidden area first :D

A good protector with an oil guard is all thats necessary for protecting handles. you just need to apply it regularly. Try THBS Everyday protect, that is a very good all round handbag product.

I noticed someone mentioned "pH balance"... this is a lot of old tosh! its 100% impossible to "match" ph of a product to leather because every single tannery uses different tanning and finishing products. The pH of leather will range from 4 - 7.5 depending on the products used to get it to a finished state, so how can you match a product to that?... It's all a marketing ploy ladies!

Although i can confirm that using babywipes is a BIG no no! they have a hig alkaline content to nuetralize urine, which is very detrimental to the finish of leather.

I shall be the proud owner of an apple green Blenheim soon. Is it safe to use Collonil spray or gel on the apple?

I've never owned Darwin leather before either so if there is anything in particular I should or shouldn't be doing on that front too I'd be much obliged for the information.

Is there any special precautions I should be taking to prevent the apple turning brown other than keeping it out of the sun (which will be quite easy at the minute)?

HELP!!!
.. such a brilliant thread but i cant find much about patent bags...

I have a steel neely patent with an inch long pen mark (i think its permanent marker) ive tried some suggestions on here, baby wipes (she is now sparkling :sunshine:) and have tried nail varnish remover on a bud and rubbing gently.. and nothing :( still the same.

Its not a huge problem as luckily being 'steel' colour it doesnt show too much but just irritates me. Any suggestions welcome.. :smile1:

I use a car leather seat spray that has uva protection in, its the uva rays that affect the stability of the green pigment ie turn brown. Ditto blue mables turning yellow, plum turning red. Any waterproofing protector with uva sun screen will be fine. My apple bays, roxy and phoebe are still granny smith green, note goldenburg delicious green.

Ill dig out some spray to see what make I used last.

It sounds like the ink has passed into the top coat and being patent cannot even be refinished successfully. Sorry but there is nothing that can be done.

Any suggestion on the metal hardware bit? how d yall keep it clean n shiny?

There are many great metal polishes out there. This is an area where its fine and probably best to use a car metal polish. Just choose the right polish for the metal type. It will even remove scratches if you take enough time.

I have to say this is pretty hardcore handbag care though!
