I think thats how the original owner of that Dark Turquoise City I found felt. I’ve seen the other bags she’s listed for sale, none of them have the amount of wear that DT had. It had to be one of her favs & lets face it - if any of us had owned this bag way back then, it may have been one of our favs too!💙
I'm going to try do be better and use them a little more... but I'm one who gets on a plane a refuses to put my bag overhead for fear of scratching.

I sit it on my lap cover it with my a jacket and when we take off, I slide it down the front of my legs and rest it on my feet under the seat in front. I gotten lucky and never been "caught ". Then as soon as I can, back in my lap !

The floor??? Oh my in sweating just thinking about it! 🤨🤨🤨

Though I avoid trashed bags, and am shocked when people try to sell them for lots of money, it also warms my heart to see a completely trashed bal bag.

I put no wear on my bags. All the bags I have are in exactly the same condition I bought them. Many already had some wear when I bought them, but they continue to have the same amount of wear (or no wear) years later, because I rotate my bags so often.

But when I see a completely beaten up bal, I think "That bag was carried every day, everywhere, for months/years. It was a ubiquitous extension of that person. That bag was loved."

Despite how much I love my bags (some are more special than others), there's no bag that's become one with me by virtue of being my constant companion for years. That's a status that the totally trashed bags achieve.
My bags are also the same as when I bought them. A slight wear i make is not noticeable to other eyes but mine only. A bit of loss of shine on the corner but that rarely happens. I keep them in hand, on the shoulder without rubbing on my clothes, chairs and clean desks. So I have a steady collection of 50ish from various brands - Bals the most, Miu Miu, YSL , one Goyard and one Khaite tote … so I could rotate them like @fayden easily. Well a nice exercise for this year and also will try making a selection at last what works for me and what does not.

I honestly don’t worry about my bags when I carry them. I don’t deliberately bang them around but if there’s no convenient spot they go on the floor, provided it’s not wet or really dirty. That’s another reason why I’ve sold so many, I have to be comfortable and worry-free.
I seem to have three categories for the most part:
new). mostly FBH never used, but also some oddballs in there also some weekenders

like new). FBH and city bags that get used a week a year or so, never in rain or weather and still look new

beaten up). beaters I've bought CHEAP back in the day, especially weekenders or courier bags that can be dragged through airports and around the globe for travel and I never fuss over. They might have worn corners or just very relaxed, but not abused i.e. cord missing from handles or holes or dyed etc.

Any chance to get a peek at your minty FBHs?:drool::loveeyes::loveeyes::graucho::graucho:
I'm sure it’s Bal Hobo heaven.

I don't want to "encourage" our Bal Queens to pare down their storied collections... but

I can't help but be curious what super rare lovelies might pop up...like a teal 05 city that is a double for someone or a Le dix (I've only been into wanting one of these this past year but regret that I know nothing of them the way I know 04-‐to 07). Now I'm consumed with wanting one and terrified to buy one ebay or something because I lack the knowledge to be sure it's real . Madly frustrating!

And I still want that 06 Blueberry City, but the last I saw was $1000...I thought that a bit much, but I could be wrong, it was minty. Haha! Too cautious.

This is too addictive truly. That rodeo put me.on my heels! So expensive but one of the best bags that they have done in years IMO. 😪😪😪

I also thank all the ladies who helped me (Avengers ) assemble all the goodies I have gotten. Could never have done it alone! I many never find my Prada Fairy at the right time or my Chanel Jumbo, but hope springs eternal!

Much love to kind and generous
spirits!

A $1550 key chain....now I've seen it all. Am I crazy?... is this so rare as to justify such a price? I've been gone for awhile ... but this seems insane!
That's that scammy site- there's a lot of stuff out there about them doing shady stuff. (In fact they like to make accounts on tPF and send "cease and desist" emails if you give them a bad review https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/justbag-net-reviews.1070281/page-3#post-36254826)

Really. I can only authenticate obvious 04-07 and i called at least 20 bags as fake.
They block me sometimes...but a few times the seller thanked.me (I'm really nice about it in the beginning) and some were reposhing and said the really didn't know and I told them to come here as they could list all the things that were wrong of they were lucky.enough.to.get an authenticator to respond. One even.said she got her money back and some pull it down immediately apparently I've got a bit a reputation. 😉

When they get nasty I just assume they know it's fake and move on.
I've never gotten a letter... that's ridiculous!
I've seen so really nice Magnolia Pearl clothes and vintage jewelry. But it's definitely a buyer beware because I don't trust their authentication service. Something would have to be particularly plastic for them to catch it i suspect

At least I've saved s few buyers.
But that damn keychain is the craziest thing one seen. That and a red prada fairy for $10 grand.

I need to do a full photo catch up. I've just been too lazy. There was a time where if I saw a FBH, maybe 10 years ago or so I'd just buy it becuase it was the perfect "me" bag. Still is... but now I've packaged and carefully stored them away and just use the ones that are out and my daily bags. Someday though!

Generally my bags are the same as when I bought them. I don't put a lot of wear on bags. Honestly I can't understand what some people do to their bags to get them in the condition they are. Once in awhile, I'll get a bag that doesn't wear well and I'll sell it before it gets bad. Or if the leather is delicate or prone to staining, I'll sell because it is too much work to be stressing about it. I love bright colors and a lot of those don't look great with a patina.

Pleaseeeeeeee post a photo of your Navy FBH somewhere on here!

Mainly for historical purposes.

… also for drooling purposes for @zestypasta, myself, and a whole lotta other folks!

I'm totally the same and very rarely use the same bag twice in a row.
I go nuts when I start seeing wear on any of my bags, so I rotate them daily.
I do marvel at my mom, whom I gave three of my Bals to. She's using two of them to death (a RGGH Anthra Vélo with holes in all corners, piping broken and sticking out...😭😭, splotchy leather from rubbing against her clothes. And a pre-Purse/Vélo/whatever hybrid that looks like it's been dragged behind a car for days. She has a Lattice City, but doesn't use it much, so bag still looks kind of okay, lol!).
She loves her "trashed" Bals, and I love that she uses them for weeks on end and doesn't see what I see.
I look at my mostly prisine bags and can't stop thinking "you won't find another, so be careful". It's a little exhausting, though. And I'm not even a collector, like you are.

Ooh, this convo is getting deep now, haha! WELP!!:lol:
That's the secret to keeping bags looking like new, have so many that you only end up using them 5 times a year!

I used to carry the same Bals all the time and would cry a little when I saw the corners start to rub. I do have some of my favorites non Bals that I reach for more. But my precious oldies mostly go unused.
