I'm the same way, I switch my bag everyday, sometimes I switch my bag twice a day!
I'm totally the same and very rarely use the same bag twice in a row.
I go nuts when I start seeing wear on any of my bags, so I rotate them daily.
I do marvel at my mom, whom I gave three of my Bals to. She's using two of them to death (a RGGH Anthra Vélo with holes in all corners, piping broken and sticking out...😭😭, splotchy leather from rubbing against her clothes. And a pre-Purse/Vélo/whatever hybrid that looks like it's been dragged behind a car for days. She has a Lattice City, but doesn't use it much, so bag still looks kind of okay, lol!).
She loves her "trashed" Bals, and I love that she uses them for weeks on end and doesn't see what I see.
I look at my mostly prisine bags and can't stop thinking "you won't find another, so be careful". It's a little exhausting, though. And I'm not even a collector, like you are.

Ooh, this convo is getting deep now, haha! WELP!!:lol:

I am the same. Use the bag for 3 days and panic that what I see is a rough leather at the corner and then don’t use it for months, bit choose one which is already beaten up and carry it again and again (grenat work which I got well used for a bargain but is so beautiful). Looks like there is nothing you can do to grenat to ruin it LOL. Most of them sit pretty in dust bags. That is why I rarely post in “wearing today” thread

Even though my bags aren’t trashed…. like ur mum, I can carry the same bal bag for weeks to months quite happily XD. It’s very nice of u to give some bal bags to ur mum..she seems to really enjoy those bags ^^

Interesting ^^ I rarely post in the “wearing today” thread too because I pretty much carry the same bags most of the time so it’s kind of boring if I post the same bag on that thread XD

I’m in the camp of I like to use my bags and don’t want the fear of ruining them to deter their use. This is why I’ve paired down or sold off more “delicate” bags by way if color or fabric. If I’m not using them, I’d rather move them onto a happier home.

I realized probably too late that it’s perfectly fine to appreciate rare colors and styles from afar. That’s why I love TPF, I can live vicariously through you all and photos of your beautiful bags.

I wouldn’t call myself a minimalist by any means, but I am definitely focusing on shopping with intention. And for me, that’s keeping and adding bags I know I will use and not fear.

Additionally, I would be more than happy to see some repeat bags in the wearing today thread. I love seeing what styles others are loving!

I love this !

Will try my best to get over the “addiction” and do that too, leave the ones I carry and enjoy them freely, I do feel imprisoned like this …. Yes the thread became deep 😂
I felt very uncomfortable carrying some of the collectable oldies, others not so much, it's strange. Colour played a lot into it, I love Bal colours but at the time black was my go to. Now I'm carrying more colour. I do wish I had kept at least one of my FBFs, I need a couple smaller bags!

I've sold the majority of my rare/collectable bags. When I look back at photos they were so beautiful, but I don't want bags that just sit in my closet.
Same. I sold all my gorgeous and super hard to find in pristine condition Weekenders (Eggplant 😭, 03 Red, Teal, Sapin), because I didn't get any use out of them. A mixture of being terrified to ruin them and the style just not working out for me. Same with my Cities, Firsts and Purses.
I'm a hobo girl and it's the only Bal style that works 100%.
Doesn't mean I won't cave if ever an Eggplant City comes along...🤪

Though I avoid trashed bags, and am shocked when people try to sell them for lots of money, it also warms my heart to see a completely trashed bal bag.

I put no wear on my bags. All the bags I have are in exactly the same condition I bought them. Many already had some wear when I bought them, but they continue to have the same amount of wear (or no wear) years later, because I rotate my bags so often.

But when I see a completely beaten up bal, I think "That bag was carried every day, everywhere, for months/years. It was a ubiquitous extension of that person. That bag was loved."

Despite how much I love my bags (some are more special than others), there's no bag that's become one with me by virtue of being my constant companion for years. That's a status that the totally trashed bags achieve.

I think thats how the original owner of that Dark Turquoise City I found felt. I’ve seen the other bags she’s listed for sale, none of them have the amount of wear that DT had. It had to be one of her favs & lets face it - if any of us had owned this bag way back then, it may have been one of our favs too!💙
