CHANEL BOY

I have 3 old medium boys. I love them. I wanted a classic flap for most of my life (no lie lol) & once I got it, I carried it & loved it & bought another. Then I needed a smaller bag; my CF was killing my back (caviar jumbo) & I saw a beautiful Boy (black lambskin chevron with holographic stripes in old medium) that just SPOKE to me. I bought 2 more after that (caviar with ruthenium & so black) & have found that the old medium size, plus the versatility of the strap really works for me. As far as 'style', I think style is something that is quite personal & even if something falls out of 'fashion' doesn't mean it has to stop working for you or should change how you view something you love. And my very humble opinion is that Chanel, whatever bag, always looks good.

The boy was my first. Black Lambskin medium ruthenium hw. I love it to this day. I do sometimes wish I got it in caviar so I can wear it more often. But at this point I don’t think I would replace the lambskin. I would rather get another one in caviar one day.
Even though it’s no long we trendy it will always be my favorite for being more wearable than the classic flap.

I own Boy in new medium and I love it! It's the perfect size for all my everyday essentials and more. I usually carry my medium-sized wallet, key wallet (w/ car keys), pouch with all my essentials, and my iphone 12 pro max. The style is different from the 19. The Boy is edgier and more casual whereas 19 can go both ways. I also like that you can carry the Boy as a shoulder bag whereas 19 is only crossbody.

I was pretty late to the game and got my Boy in November of 2020 (old medium black caviar classic quilt RHW).
A few years back (about 6 or 7 I believe) I purchased a seasonal flap (Rock in Rome in black soft caviar RHW) and though I read a lot of negative reviews about Rock in Rome, I really loved it and preferred it to CF at that point of my life (smaller than Jumbo but bigger than M/L, easy to use and funky looking with Boy strap on it). Some popular bags came and left my collection (Buisness Affinity, Mademoiselle bag, Gabrielle) and finally last summer I found myself with only three pieces remaining: Classic WOC (GHW), CF Jumbo (GHW) & seasonal Rock in Rome (RHW) that lasted throughout all that time and revisions. I was deliberating getting another CF in M/L , but realized that as much as I like the look of it and despite all the positive reviews on YouTube I don’t like using CF. So I started looking at Le Boy bag and thinking if I should spend a lot of money on a bag that everyone on YouTube said was “over” and “outdated”. I remember a couple of years ago a lot of popular luxury YouTubers started adding a certain Chanel bag to their collections (which I really do like), but fast forward a few years and now the very same YouTubers are selling it for a next/another IT thing (curating/ streamlining their collection, new IT bag, etc) as the bag was originally purchased for a wrong reason (totally my personal opinion based on an observation- could be completely wrong here).
I guess my long winded point was - I chose to go with what I LOVED when I purchased my Rock in Rome flap years ago despite negative reviews and it was my most loved and used Chanel flap to date. In November I purchased my Le Boy bag and I didn’t look back - it’s so easy and awesome- love it! For me it‘s worth every cent spent (and believe me - it‘s a lot of CAD cents!), but I know I love it and given our lives’ realities I want to enjoy my bags here and now.

I have the old medium boy, black caviar with matte ghw. For style I’d say it’s not as trendy as before but don’t not look dated at all. It’s a very classic look IMO and will stay a quite a while longer but won’t be as crazy popular as it was.
That said, I never wear this back, it’s a 100% regret that I don’t get the CF over it in 2017. For 1) I can’t wear it cross body without it sagging at the top middle which is a HUGE reason for buying it vs CF 2) if I don’t wear it cross body the two thick chains are too clumsy for me, the get tangled, swing everywhere etc. 3) I have lost several expensive lipsticks due to the gaps at the top when you close the flap down. 4) really does not hold much. Equal to the mini lady dior but not as versatile due to the strap issue mentioned above.

I just purchased a small boy bag with ghw on the weekend. Although I would have preferred the ruthenium, it was unavailable in any of the Sydney stores. Can those with boy bags please let me know where their bag is made? Mine is saying "Made in Italy" which I feel disappointed about but is that normal???

To my knowledge they are all made in Italy… some slg’s are made in Spain - it shouldn’t affect the integrity of your bag.

I regret my boy to be honest . It’s the black with gunmetal ruthenium chain . It definitely does come down to personal taste . One upside is that I purchased it very early and oh lord the price increase

Agreed that made in Italy absolutely should not affect integrity of your bag - it’s the craftsmanship that matters the most, however my old medium Le Boy was made in France. I chose it purely because of my personal leather preference and MIF ended up being a pleasant bonus. In the past I did have quality issues with bags made both in France & Italy so by no means made in France would be an assurance of a superior quality, but merely a personal preference.

Can I ask, and apologies if this has been answered many times before, but is it easy to buy a boy? Can you walk into a store and buy one if they have it in stock? And what’s it like to find a classic colour combo - I’m looking at black and ruthenium.

Is a small boy too small for a tall person?
mice had the new medium and sold it. It was too big and I didn’t like it crossbody.

I like the medium size but I don’t carry much.
Also, considering boy WOC.
