In my humble opinion, I believe boy is here to stay. Yes, when compared to the 19 on which one of the two will stand the test of time, I will go with boy (preferably the large chevron variant). While looking at classics from most fashion houses like the Birkin, Kelly, Constance, CF, Speedy, Neverfull, Antigona, Lady Dior etc. what’s one very important characteristic in common with all of these mentioned??? STRUCTURE! solid structure and the “look” of durability. This is where I would place the boy as far as having this “look”. These bags appeal most to all generations because of this key factor...this is also what differs between the 19 and Le Boy...slouchy boneless bags like the Gabrielle, nightingale, and saddle (most recently popularized...again) don’t do well when it comes to holding consistency and relevance...this is where I would categorize the 19...Not now, but pretty soon.

So true. Good points. Never thought about it like that.

Also to add.... the boy came out in 2011 . Going 10 years strong. It's here to stay. It may not appeal to everyone but there's alot of classic bags from the brands/bags listed above that I chose not to get because it doesn't appeal to me. I appreciate them all and think they are definitely classics but doesnt mean everyone will like it.

I remember I wanted it in 2011 but my SA said to get a classic (GST) between the two because she thought the boy bag was going to be seasonal and not last. Haha I still wanted it so badly 5 years later that I got it in 2016. So ironic because the GST was the one to get discontinued hahah.

I love my boy bag :)

Would appreciate everyone’s opinion on so black hardware vs silver or gold?
Thanks
Hi! :) I noticed this was unanswered.
Not sure if you already got a boy but go with what makes you happy. Really, it's the combo of hardware with the color of the bag and style (quilt, chevron) that will complete the anesthetics of the bag. I got caramel in 2015 with rheutenium hardware and I can't imagine it in with any other hardware . It made me super happy when I saw it. Good luck!

Hi all! purchased my boy bag in 2019 and love it so much but noticed just now that the CC on top of the squeeze lock appears to be indented and has loosened up. anyone else had this problem? im worried that it might eventually fall off if I keep using it. Here are some pics. bottom part is flat on the rectangle metal but the top part of the CC has a visible gap

I personally don't like so black on the boy. It makes it look like a clunky black box.

The GHW gives it a much more dressed-up/formal look, whereas the RHW gives it a very casual/edgy vibe. In terms of which one is better - I would say it depends on the individual wearing it and their personal style. Depends on the look that you're going for!

Hi All,
Im new here. I need your help on this matter. I bought a boy bag from someone and was told it is authentic. As proof was given this invoice. Was this a legit invoice from chanel france? Thanks all
French people don’t use commas when they write numbers but they use periods. So 50,000 would be 50.000 in France. That’s what I was taught while I was learning French. But I’ve never seen Chanel do a full paper receipt like that before.

I like all three colors of the HW and only recently started contemplating between a caviar with RHW or GHW... decisions decisions.

Had never thought about the So Black boy looking like a clunky box LOL! I kind of see it!

I have a black caviar ,classic quilt with ruthenium hardware one. I was debating between antique gold and ruthenium but for me personally anything gold is more elegant and ruthenium is more edgy/casual. I wasn't planning using Boy as an elegant bag but more as an everyday day bag so I went with ruthenium and I couldn't be happier.
Good luck deciding !

I have a reserve for a chanel 19 in caramel lambskin that is coming in this week but another SA texted me a pic of a medium boy in caramel caviar with light gold hardware. I am going to cancel the 19 ( my SA will not be happy) and have the boy sent . I live in a 4 season state and wanted a caramel bag that could be worn with a couple pairs of my caramel boots - realized the lambskin cannot be worn in rain or snow. Started investigating 19s on fashionphile and the goatskin 19 have all sold - they had many more lambskin and when you look now there are even many more lambskins for sale. These bags have only been out for 2 yrs and the very few look new anymore. So I think a structured caviar bag is much better for me to wear anytime of the year.

I love the Boy bag and I want to add one to my collection, I feel that it’s a must have and it’s worth it. However, I would buy it just in black and ruthenium hardware, that’s the only combo I like and I think that one Boy bag is more than enough in a Chanel purse collection.
I have a dark blue Boy bag in a medium but I am on the fence about whether to get a large (new medium) boy bag in black with ruthenium hardware or a Dior Caro bag (large) in either gold or silver hardware, or maybe even a Saint Laurent Loulou in medium which is a fraction of the cost??

I agree with one of the comments here that the boy and 19 are completely different bags. And agree that structure is why the boy has reached house signature status: because it retains its shape and beauty better, which affects value. I think when you start going for the mega expensive brands like Chanel, investment mindset comes into play whether directly or indirectly and bag structure is one thing to consider.

I got my new medium boy this year from a personal shopper. And it’s everything I dreamed about. It’s surprisingly very easy to lug around except that the strap falls off my shoulders (like my other bags lol). It’s also very versatile; can be worn on a casual stroll to a special dinner.

I was worried that it will be heavy and stiff like what some tubers are saying, but I find it particularly pliable; it’s just structured, not stiff. My boy is made in France.

Which brings me to this question: any notable difference between France and Italy-made Chanels? Which one do you like the most?
